Show notes

Ed and Ryan keep the Season 6 monthly streak alive with a supersized July episode recorded in the wake of San Diego Comic-Con. Before diving into the convention reveals, they catch up on a month of new figures, pre-orders, clearance finds, and the closing of their longtime local Toys R Us.

Six Figures This Month

Ryan’s pickups include G.I. Joe Classified releases, NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Godzilla figures, Transformers Blockies, a Matrix of Leadership prop, wrestling figures, and more. Ed follows with a much larger haul spanning G.I. Joe, WWE, Masters of the Universe, McFarlane, NECA, Beast Kingdom, Marvel, Transformers, and convention exclusives.

SDCC 2026 Toy News

The bulk of the episode is a manufacturer-by-manufacturer SDCC rundown. Ryan and Ed cover G.I. Joe and Sergeant Slaughter, Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, Masters of the Universe, wrestling releases, Mattel’s future DC plans, McFarlane DC Multiverse, sports figures, Factory Entertainment, Ramen Toys, and other collector lines shown during the convention.

Closing Notes

The pair close by pointing listeners to the main True North Nerds show, the Tales from the Collectiverse Instagram feed, and Snowhawk Cosplay, with Fan Expo Canada already on the horizon.

Intro Sketch

Rex (00:00:00 - 00:00:08): Welcome to… Tales from the Collectiverse! A vintage mint-in-box 1975 Mego Star Trek Transporter.

Rex (00:00:08 - 00:00:15): That’s the rare Zach Branigan with recording session blooper! The limited edition double-edged lightsaber from Star Wars Episode 1.

Rex (00:00:15 - 00:00:18): He’s mint in the box! Never open!

Rex (00:00:18 - 00:00:31): Once you open the box, it loses its value. You removed it from its original packaging! But the sign said there was a mint in the box. It’s no longer a collectible! It is a ghetto’s wonderful toy.

Welcome and July Setup

Rex (00:00:32 - 00:00:34): And now here are your hosts, Ryan and Ed.

Ed (00:00:34 - 00:00:42): Welcome everyone to Tales from Collectiverse, Season 6, Episode 7, July.

Ryan (00:00:42 - 00:00:43): Woo!

Ed (00:00:44 - 00:00:56): We’re keeping the streak alive. We’re, we are keeping, uh, episode a month. And hey, next month’s gonna be tough with Fan Expo. But before we get to that point, I’m Ed and with me is, uh, Ryan.

Ryan (00:00:57 - 00:00:58): That’s my name, right? Yeah. That’s why.

Ed (00:00:58 - 00:01:01): I guess, I guess so. I don’t know, the hesitation.

Ryan (00:01:01 - 00:01:02): Yeah, always.

Ed (00:01:02 - 00:01:05): You’re like, uh, I don’t know, what show am I on?

Ryan (00:01:05 - 00:01:08): What’s my name again? Do I say my last name? Do I need to put that out there?

Ed (00:01:08 - 00:01:11): Do you? Why, is somebody after you?

Ryan (00:01:11 - 00:01:12): You never know.

Ed (00:01:12 - 00:01:15): Maybe. Anyway, anyways, Brian, how are you?

Ryan (00:01:15 - 00:01:17): I’m good. How you doing, Ed?

Ed (00:01:17 - 00:01:24): I am, um, I’m tired. Work has been a lot.

Ryan (00:01:24 - 00:01:26): And then you had a house full of people yesterday.

Ed (00:01:26 - 00:01:42): Yeah, we had, uh, we had our barbecue yesterday. So the once a year when we have smoked meat, which hits the spot. Anyways, well, there’s a lot to talk about because San Diego Comic-Con.

Ryan (00:01:43 - 00:01:43): Yes.

Ed (00:01:43 - 00:02:00): And you have been doing nothing but sitting on the news desk, writing up the news. So why don’t we just jump straight into Six Figures and then we can get into the news. And because you’re going to do all the talking during the news. I’ll hand the mic over to you now and you can do 60 seconds.

Six Figures This Month: Ryan’s Pickups

Ryan (00:02:00 - 00:02:09): No, I’ll give it back to you. Okay, cool. So since we last recorded, uh, I got some GI Joes as always. We’re at that time of year where pre-orders have started coming in.

Ed (00:02:09 - 00:02:19): Yep, that— this is when last year’s us said that this is going to be this year’s problem, and then this year’s problem is like, damn, last year, why’d you have to spend all my money?

Ryan (00:02:19 - 00:03:27): Yep. So The latest wave that I think you’ve already got all of, I still haven’t got all my pre-orders for yet, but I have so far gotten, uh, the Dawn Marino Snake Eyes. That’s Lady Snake Eyes, for those of you who don’t know her name. I picked up the retro-carded Wild Bill, which I finally put into my Dragonfly this morning, and that’s Was that it for my Joes? I guess all the other stuff was in— yeah, was in the last time we recorded. So I still haven’t gotten my Hydro Viper and, um, whatever the other guy’s name in that wave. I can’t remember. But so it’s a little bit of Joes this month, some NECA. So sadly, our local Toys R Us is one of the ones now— we talked last episode, I think, about the bankruptcy sale and the NECA purchasing the rights to Toys R Us Canada and all that. And we had hopes of, oh, maybe our store would stay open with some NECA stuff because there was new NECA toys in there. Uh, yeah, they’re all— as of this recording, they’re all 50% off and the store closes on Wednesday.

Ed (00:03:27 - 00:03:34): Which I know I’m gonna touch on it when I get into my 6 figures, but I did go in.

Ryan (00:03:34 - 00:03:34): Yeah.

Ed (00:03:35 - 00:04:01): Um, just, I guess, just a note because, hey, everyone knows where we record the podcast who listens to the podcast. Um, I think that Toys R Us has been a part of our toy fandom life forever because it was our only Toys R Us. I remember when the store opened up in, uh, what was it, late ‘87, early ‘88? My mom used to work next door.

Ryan (00:04:01 - 00:04:02): Oh, at the—

Ed (00:04:02 - 00:04:27): At the draper— the fab— the drapery, or the fabric and drapery store. My mom worked there, so there were lots of times either My mom would go in on a day off to get something and we’d go next door to Toys R Us. Or in high school, I’d— I mean, my mom was still working there, um, go into Toys R Us when I first started driving and then come over and then see my mom.

Ryan (00:04:27 - 00:04:27): Yep.

Ed (00:04:27 - 00:04:52): Um, I’m still bitter I lost $12 in the parking lot of Toys R Us when I bought my Destro Despoiler because I was putting the cash in my pocket And it dropped and I missed it. And then not until I got home. And that was even like, yeah, I’m still bitter. That was, that was even before the $2 coins. That was, it was a $10 bill and a $2 bill I lost in the parking lot.

Ryan (00:04:52 - 00:04:52): Damn.

Ed (00:04:52 - 00:05:22): So I did go in. Um, it’s funny, I, I did say to the lady working behind the counter, I’m like, how long you been here? And she said, I worked here for 9 years. And I said, well, I worked here 30 years ago. And she said, 30 years ago? She says, you must know Carmen. And I’m like, I do know Carmen because Carmen was there and trained me 30 years ago. And so our pal Jack probably knows Carmen.

Ryan (00:05:22 - 00:05:23): Oh, geez.

Ed (00:05:23 - 00:05:40): So it— and Carmen is still there. So like over 30 years she worked in the same store. Um, the manager and I, her and I, we never got along too well, especially, uh, hey, I was a, I was in, I was a 19-year-old, sorry, I was a 20-year-old kid and I quit on my birthday.

Ryan (00:05:40 - 00:05:41): Nice.

Ed (00:05:41 - 00:06:09): Um, so, you know, hey, she didn’t like me too much because I quit during the Christmas season, but I did buy some stuff because I knew it was going to be the last time I ever go into that store. Yeah, end of an era. Um, Hey, we’ve said lots of times too, there’s different ways to get toys now. But it is a shame that the whole toy business has changed so much that for whatever reason, big, big retail stores can’t stay afloat anymore.

Ryan (00:06:09 - 00:06:13): So no, especially not specialty ones that are like one thing specific.

Ed (00:06:13 - 00:06:31): So no, it’s an end of an era. And, uh, pretty much all we’re gonna have left to bury is, is secondary retailers or small, small chain stores, you know, like Big B or Sir Games or, yep, you know, EB Games.

Ryan (00:06:31 - 00:06:44): But, uh, but yep, so I took advantage of the discounted sales. I picked up the NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon April O’Neil because I figured she would fit in nicely with my Archie comic book turtles.

Ed (00:06:44 - 00:06:45): Yep.

Ryan (00:06:45 - 00:06:54): And then I picked up some more Blockies, the Transformer Blockies, which we also found out Mind Games carries them. So, uh, I’ve been getting some more of those lately.

Ed (00:06:56 - 00:07:01): Uh, yeah, my, my Ryan, he’s looking for Blockies, so I guess I’ll have to tell him that Wednesday’s the last day.

Ryan (00:07:01 - 00:07:04): So they don’t, they don’t have much. It’s just Transformer ones left.

Ed (00:07:04 - 00:07:07): That, that’s what he’s looking for. He wants an Optimus Prime.

Ryan (00:07:07 - 00:07:32): Okay. They, uh, I don’t know if they have the big, big one, but yeah, it’s worth a check. Maybe I’ll swing by there on my way home tonight. Uh, then, oh, I also picked up just the other day a NECA Return of Godzilla because I wanted like an old-school looking Godzilla, and they had— I got lucky, there was 2 left on the shelf on Friday when I went in there. There’s a lot of stuff there still, but there was only 2 Godzillas.

Ed (00:07:32 - 00:07:39): It would be neat to get a Godzilla because I do have the King Kong in my collection, which was from like the ’30s, ‘33.

Ryan (00:07:39 - 00:07:40): Same one, yeah.

Ed (00:07:40 - 00:07:48): So it’d be kind of neat to have like a classic looking Godzilla to go with my King Kong, but then, eh, I like King Kong a lot more than Godzilla.

Ryan (00:07:49 - 00:07:54): So yeah, that’s fine. You, you’re the big Kong guy, I’m the Godzilla guy. They’re friends, we’re friends.

Ed (00:07:54 - 00:07:56): It works. I love my big monkey.

Ryan (00:07:56 - 00:08:02): There you go. Uh, I also picked up the— well, you found it for me, it was on sale.

Ed (00:08:02 - 00:08:05): Liar. I found you nothing.

Ryan (00:08:05 - 00:08:06): Yeah, you did.

Ed (00:08:06 - 00:08:06): Did I?

Ryan (00:08:06 - 00:08:13): Yeah, you picked up the McFarlane, uh, 1/3 scale, or the, the tiny, uh, Optimus Prime head.

Ed (00:08:13 - 00:08:14): Oh yeah, the tiny head.

Ryan (00:08:14 - 00:08:43): Yep, the little like paperweight head. Yeah, it was like, it was what? Oh, $14 Canadian. I checked it out, I scanned it the morning. Later that day I found one at Walmart. I was like, oh man, this better not be cheaper than what I just found, got for me. And I scanned it and it wasn’t. It was like $22. Yeah, like, okay, good. Uh, so I got that. I got— oh, you also picked up for me the NECA Fortnite Leonardo.

Ed (00:08:43 - 00:08:56): Yeah, which is funny because like it was the day before you’re like, oh yeah, look at this figure, this— look at the articulation on this. If you happen to come across one, I’ll take one. And it was like next day I go into Target and it’s just there on the turtle shelf.

Ryan (00:08:56 - 00:08:59): Yeah, and it was the only turtle too, with just—

Ed (00:08:59 - 00:09:14): oh, that’s the— then, and the rest of the trip, that’s the only one I could find because you were like Oh, maybe— Edited for podcast because you can’t tell it until later. But you were like, maybe if you find one, I will get it for— I was like, nope, no luck.

Ryan (00:09:14 - 00:09:44): Yeah. Um, then my pre-order of one of the coolest props that I’ve— that I’ve wanted, and it— I just got to find a cool spot for it now. My Transformers Studio Series Matrix of Leadership came in. Which, you know, I’ve already posted a picture on our— on the— on Tales from Collectiverse Instagram and a little story video of me playing with it, opening it, and, you know, lighting our darkest hour.

Ed (00:09:44 - 00:09:46): Yes.

Ryan (00:09:46 - 00:09:48): Uh, and that was it for me.

Ed (00:09:48 - 00:09:48): Well, that’s it.

Ryan (00:09:48 - 00:09:49): That was it.

Six Figures This Month: Ed’s Pickups

Ed (00:09:49 - 00:09:57): Well, okay, well then I’m gonna start mine, and I also got the Matrix of Leadership.

Ryan (00:09:57 - 00:10:01): Which is nice, which I was surprised to hear. I didn’t think— you never said anything about pre-ordering it.

Ed (00:10:01 - 00:10:12): Oh, I don’t know. I ordered from EB Games as well because I tried getting it from Pulse. Yeah, and it was sold out. It is pretty cool. Um, did you put batteries in or do you run off a USB?

Ryan (00:10:12 - 00:10:20): I put batteries in it. I don’t have an extra— like, I have one USB, like, battery pack that I use to, like, charge my phone and stuff sometimes.

Ed (00:10:20 - 00:10:24): But because it will run off a USB, but the only thing is you can’t close it.

Ryan (00:10:24 - 00:10:35): Yeah, you can’t close it all the way then. It’s meant for, I think, if you wanted to have it on display and like lit, because there’s a way to— there’s a button on it you press that will let it just be lit without the music.

Ed (00:10:35 - 00:10:39): I haven’t played that part yet.

Ryan (00:10:39 - 00:10:40): Yeah, I just—

Ed (00:10:40 - 00:11:19): I’ve only noticed it in the instructions when I looked real quick. Well, I just opened it up to see if I had the touch, uh, but I was also close to the wall, so you know, because I’ve been running off a USB because I didn’t have any batteries. But no, it was neat. Um, yeah, I wanted it because, like, it’s funny because when I picked up that Transformers 1 Matrix of Leadership for you, like, I already had that thing on order for a long time, and I didn’t expect it was going to be that big because now, yeah, it’s one of those crap, where do I put this? Yeah, because it’s really, really big. All right.

Ryan (00:11:19 - 00:11:24): Well, there’s the Transformers Matrix of Leadership. It’s not the human Matrix of Leadership.

Ed (00:11:24 - 00:11:25): Yeah, I guess.

Ryan (00:11:25 - 00:11:26): Not fitting in our chest.

Ed (00:11:26 - 00:11:37): Yeah. All right, well, keeping with Transformers, another pre-order I had from Pulse was the ‘86 Studio Series Shockwave from the movie.

Ryan (00:11:37 - 00:11:38): Oh, nice.

Ed (00:11:38 - 00:11:45): So I haven’t opened it yet because, um, my Transformers shelf is now not big enough.

Ryan (00:11:45 - 00:11:47): Yeah.

Ed (00:11:47 - 00:12:07): So I have been reorganizing the basement. And, uh, another thing I wasn’t too happy on because I bought the US— the LED, uh, strips, adhesive ones, like the, the LED lights that’s sticky. Well, it wasn’t sticking. So I go down to my office and—

Ryan (00:12:07 - 00:12:08): Oh, they just peel off?

Ed (00:12:08 - 00:12:23): They all just collapsed onto my figures. So I’m like, okay, well, so I just grabbed some binder clips and I’m like, I’ll just clip it to the shelf. And I clipped the first one and it was shorted out and killed the whole 100 feet. And I’m like, son of a gun.

Ryan (00:12:23 - 00:12:24): Wow.

Ed (00:12:24 - 00:12:42): So, um, yeah, so I’m just doing heavy overhauls in the basement. So Transformers are going to need a new shelf, or I have to find a place for my Optimus Prime helmet. And if I find somewhere for my Optimus Prime helmet, then that opens up space for more Optimus Primes.

Ryan (00:12:42 - 00:12:43): Yep.

Ed (00:12:43 - 00:12:54): And speaking about Optimus Primes, I think we’ll probably get into the news section, but man, I’m trying hard not to buy the new San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Optimus Prime. Oh, you haven’t seen him yet?

Ryan (00:12:54 - 00:12:57): Which one’s that? Which one’s the San Diego exclusive Optimus Prime?

Ed (00:12:57 - 00:13:08): Oh, it’s the Transformers cereal box one, and it’s Optimus Prime. It’s— so it’s ‘84 Optimus Prime with Trailer, with Jazz who goes in the trailer.

Ryan (00:13:08 - 00:13:08): Okay.

Ed (00:13:09 - 00:13:16): And Trailer, it all is in black, and the side of the Truck has the Transformers logo. So the actual Transformers—

Ryan (00:13:16 - 00:13:18): Oh no, I didn’t see that one.

Ed (00:13:18 - 00:13:28): Oh, it looks so cool. Plus they’ve updated Optimus Prime, so it is classic G1 Optimus Prime with full articulation.

Ryan (00:13:28 - 00:13:28): Okay.

Ed (00:13:28 - 00:13:52): So he can’t— because, you know, every time they do the release, they give you the same version. This one you can actually pose and you can move his legs, and the front grille and fender kind of flexes out a little bit. Okay, so you can do Optimus Prime in battle stance mode. And I’m like, because I’ve been looking for a really, really, really, really good Optimus Prime.

Ryan (00:13:52 - 00:13:52): Yeah.

Ed (00:13:52 - 00:14:24): And that’s like the best of the original Optimus Prime. So anyways, there’s some news. Um, I was at the office and I picked up a bunch of, um, I had some stuff shipped to the office. So like I had, uh, an eBay purchase, like $50 to ship to Canada or $6 to ship it to Atlanta. So I end up getting the WWE Legends, uh, gold box of Terry Funk.

Ryan (00:14:24 - 00:14:25): Okay.

Ed (00:14:25 - 00:14:36): So it’s Terry Funk and he’s wearing the gear from, uh, 1989 WCW versus Uh, it was the match he was against Ric Flair.

Ryan (00:14:36 - 00:14:37): Okay.

Ed (00:14:37 - 00:15:05): So it’s his blue cowboy stuff. Um, and then— oh, oh, then I was at— I was in the States and I came across I’ve been looking for him big time. Uh, G.I. Joe Classified USA 250 Duke.

Ryan (00:15:05 - 00:15:06): Yes.

Ed (00:15:06 - 00:15:21): So that one finally had— I had him on pre-order at Walmart. It kept delaying it, and then I was in, I was in New Hampshire and I came across it and I’m like, oh yes please. Just, they had 3 left. I should have bought all 3.

Ryan (00:15:21 - 00:15:24): Yeah, because you could have easily sold them up here.

Ed (00:15:24 - 00:15:36): Oh yeah, people that are, you know, in the same boat of waiting for their Walmart Yeah, um, and then by the time I got back, I ended up getting my pre-order for Red Dog and Taurus.

Ryan (00:15:36 - 00:15:38): Nice. From G.I.

Ed (00:15:39 - 00:15:49): Joe Classified. And then I ended up— so, oh, I also got my Scarlet and Shebang.

Ryan (00:15:49 - 00:15:51): Yep, the Ninja Force 2-pack.

Ed (00:15:51 - 00:15:53): Yes, which you had it.

Ryan (00:15:53 - 00:15:53): I did.

Ed (00:15:53 - 00:15:54): I do.

Ryan (00:15:54 - 00:15:55): Uh-huh.

Ed (00:15:56 - 00:15:57): I also had it on pre-order for you too.

Ryan (00:15:57 - 00:15:59): Oh, did you?

Ed (00:15:59 - 00:16:11): Yeah, I had it pre-ordered for you on Pulse. That’s why you didn’t have any record of it being pre-ordered. That’s okay, I was able to cancel it before it shipped because as soon as you, you told me, you’re like, oh yeah, I got Scarlet and Shebang.

Ryan (00:16:11 - 00:16:11): Okay.

Ed (00:16:12 - 00:16:25): And I’m like, okay, that, that’s awesome. And then I go in and mine, I get notifications and mine’s shipping, and then I’m like, oh, wait a minute. I have 2 on order because I guess you couldn’t get it. So I said to you at the time, do you want me to just order for you?

Ryan (00:16:25 - 00:16:29): Um, yeah, I got to keep better track of what I’ve pre-ordered.

Ed (00:16:29 - 00:16:40): No, that’s all— it’s all good. Hey, I get— I can order this stuff and I get free cancellations. So, um, except for when you get it, then it’s hard to return it.

Ryan (00:16:40 - 00:16:47): So yeah, cancel before it ships. And if that had happened, for sure I would have taken— you know, I would have just taken it Yeah, so then I got me— Drew would have bought it.

Ed (00:16:48 - 00:16:56): I got my G.I. Joe Retro Classified carded Technoviper, Wild Bill, and Grunt.

Ryan (00:16:56 - 00:17:02): So have you been keeping all your Retros on card out in the bunker?

Ed (00:17:02 - 00:17:26): Yeah, no, it’s because most of the Retros are just re-releases of stuff I have already. Yeah, or it’s something tweaked, and if I happen to come across maybe an extra at a great deal, I’ll buy it to unpack it. But other than that, no. Um, on the most part, the card art has been good. I’ve seen leaked images of what the Lieutenant Falcon card art— and you might talk about it later— it looks horrible.

Ryan (00:17:26 - 00:17:26): Oh yeah?

Ed (00:17:26 - 00:17:56): Oh, it’s bad. Like, it’s like supposed to be a better head sculpt on this one. Well, they made up for it for fucking up the card art so bad. Um, okay, um, so then when I was at Toys R Us, I also picked up a Because Toys R Us was such a big part of my GI Joe collecting, I was like, I gotta buy at least something GI Joe. And they had a, uh, GI Joe Classified retro carded Tele Viper.

Ryan (00:17:56 - 00:17:56): Yep.

Ed (00:17:56 - 00:17:59): So I bought him. That one will come off of card.

Ryan (00:17:59 - 00:17:59): Yeah.

Ed (00:17:59 - 00:18:16): Because also it had a different head on it, because, um, the original Tele Viper came with the Trouble Bubble, and then this one has the, the the words displayed on his, just on his goggles, which is from the cartoon.

Ryan (00:18:16 - 00:18:24): Yeah, I, uh, I was looking at— I’m sure you saw the HMS, like the missile stand. They had one, they had 2 at Toys R Us.

Ed (00:18:25 - 00:18:26): Um, the, the one with—

Ryan (00:18:26 - 00:19:01): the one with Hawk. Yeah. Uh, it didn’t have the price on it, like you did, because they’d started condensing things, so the price wasn’t on the shelf. So I was like, oh well, 50% off, like, oh, that might be tempting. So I had to ask the guy, there was a staff member nearby, so I said, hey, Can you tell me how much this is? He’s like, yeah, I don’t know, let me go scan it. And then he got— I looked at him, what’s taking him so long? I looked and he got stuck at the till, working the till. I was like, okay, no problem. Eventually came back, he’s like, yeah, so, uh, after taxes, all in, it’s $79. And I was like, oh geez, what the hell price did they have this thing at for it to be 50% off to be $70?

Ed (00:19:01 - 00:19:03): It’d be $149.

Ryan (00:19:03 - 00:19:06): Well, I know that, but I mean, that’s Seems like a bit much for that.

Ed (00:19:06 - 00:19:11): It is a cool looking one. Plus, like, if you’re a completist—

Ryan (00:19:11 - 00:19:11): Oh, for sure.

Ed (00:19:11 - 00:19:31): Because then you get your original 13 Joes in the original. Because like, even when we had the one podcast and I said, Jesus, did they— are they coming out with a retro Grunt? And then I forgot that they’re coming out with retro carded Grunt, that they take the original Grunt and sort of change them to look like the original 13.

Ryan (00:19:32 - 00:19:38): So yeah, long story short, I end up— I passed on it still. Okay, so I couldn’t justify $79 on it.

Ed (00:19:38 - 00:20:18): Yep. Um, okay, so that’s all for Joe’s. Um, I was in the States, I ended up finding the— like last month I found the, the Beast Kingdom figures, the ‘89 Batman, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin. Yep. I found The Batman Begins, so I’m like, you know what, I’m just gonna continue on that, that series. So I now have them all. I also found, uh, I was kicking myself because I was like, do I, do I not? Well, it was 50% off, is The Piper’s Pit.

Ryan (00:20:18 - 00:20:19): Nice.

Ed (00:20:19 - 00:20:38): Now that’s what Rowdy Roddy Piper, Orndorff, and, um, Bob Orton. And then Bob Orton comes with 2 different hats. So he comes with a hat where he’s— when he was teaming up with Piper, and then he comes with a pink hat when he was teaming up with Adrian Adonis.

Ryan (00:20:38 - 00:20:39): Okay.

Ed (00:20:39 - 00:20:56): And it’s the whole Piper’s Pit playset. It’s like, uh, I’m running out of space for wrestling stuff, but it was $35. And I’m like, if it was just a Rowdy Roddy Piper on the shelf and he was $35, I would have paid for it anyway. Yeah, so $35 for 3 figures.

Ryan (00:20:56 - 00:20:56): Yeah.

Ed (00:20:56 - 00:21:10): Yeah, and I do have, uh, like, like the kid, he had— when I was— when he was little, I bought him Roddy and, and Orndorff 2-pack. So I got those back from him.

Ryan (00:21:10 - 00:21:10): Oh, nice.

Ed (00:21:10 - 00:21:44): And so it’s probably gonna be like, okay, you can have your Roddy and Orndorff back, and I’ll— I will replace them because the head sculpts on these are so much better. And, um, Okay, well, also another pre-order. Okay, let’s actually— let’s— I’m just going to go back with the Toys R Us stuff, um, because as we said, our Toys R Us was closing and I picked up the G.I. Joe, my G.I. Joe stuff. Um, the amount of NECA stuff there.

Ryan (00:21:44 - 00:21:45): So, yep.

Ed (00:21:45 - 00:21:52): Um, I ended up picking up the Kidrobot Alf puppet because I love Alf.

Ryan (00:21:52 - 00:21:54): Is that that one there?

Ed (00:21:54 - 00:21:54): Yes.

Ryan (00:21:54 - 00:21:55): Nice.

Ed (00:21:55 - 00:22:28): And he was 50% off, so I’m like, oh, I have to. Then they also had the Body Knockers, the little, uh, solar-powered ones for their body ship. So I picked up Alf and I picked up Pee-wee Herman and I picked up Christmas Story leg lamp because I have a leg lamp in my living room. So it now is on the same shelf as my leg lamp. I don’t have the big leg lamp, I just have the table—

Ryan (00:22:28 - 00:22:29): It’s a small one.

Ed (00:22:29 - 00:22:43): The desk leg lamp from Bed Bath Beyond. Um, I also picked up an Over the Rainbow Elvira She’s the only one I didn’t have yet.

Ryan (00:22:43 - 00:22:43): Nice.

Ed (00:22:43 - 00:22:54): And I don’t have them out because I already put them away in Christmas stuff, but I also picked up the NECA Christmas Story Ralphie with, with Red Ryder BB gun.

Ryan (00:22:54 - 00:22:56): I was gonna ask if you picked that one up.

Ed (00:22:56 - 00:22:57): Yeah, because I’m a huge—

Ryan (00:22:57 - 00:23:00): yeah, like, I, I, uh, it goes with the light lamp.

Ed (00:23:00 - 00:23:15): I love Christmas Story. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s my favorite Christmas movie, but it’s also one of my favorite movies. And I go all out with my Christmas Story stuff at Christmas time.

Ryan (00:23:15 - 00:23:15): There you go.

Ed (00:23:16 - 00:23:32): Um, well, okay, one of my pre-orders showed up. I ended up getting the One Last Kill Punisher. Oh yes, that one is a really good figure. I have the Daredevil Born Again Punisher. Yeah, yeah, I got Born Again Punisher.

Ryan (00:23:32 - 00:23:32): Yep.

Ed (00:23:33 - 00:23:58): But the The one last kill is like brutal. Like, it is awesome. And comes with all the guns and comes with knives and comes with a hatchet. And it’s like, oh yes, give us more of this. And then, um, it’s funny, the other morning you texted me saying, hey, Drew found some Masters Universe. Well, I did that afternoon when I was in Alberta.

Ryan (00:23:58 - 00:23:58): Yeah.

Ed (00:23:58 - 00:24:04): And I passed on Drew, but I bought them in Alberta because I saved the tax.

Ryan (00:24:04 - 00:24:05): Yep.

Ed (00:24:05 - 00:24:16): Uh, so I ended up getting Masters of the Universe Chronicles Movie Teela and Ram-Man, and which Ram-Man is also coming out later this year in a 2-pack with Fisto.

Ryan (00:24:17 - 00:24:17): Yep.

Ed (00:24:17 - 00:24:22): So I have that on pre-order, and I was like, uh, do I really need 2 Ram-Man?

Ryan (00:24:22 - 00:24:23): Uh, it’s different.

Ed (00:24:23 - 00:24:31): Yes, you do. You do need 2 Ram-Man. So the The Ram Man in the pack is the bouncy legs one.

Ryan (00:24:31 - 00:24:57): So a thing from the San Diego news, they were showing off a second Fisto that’s different than the 2-pack that’ll be coming out later in one of the newer, later waves of the Chronicles line with some different, slightly different paint. slightly different expression and, uh, some articulation in his fist.

Ed (00:24:57 - 00:25:08): Hmm. So, well, Masters of the Universe hit Prime, showing on Prime as the number one movie in Canada. I’ve already watched it 1.5 times on Prime.

Ryan (00:25:08 - 00:25:09): I watched it again.

Ed (00:25:09 - 00:25:14): Yep. I love that movie. That movie is the movie of 2025 or 2026 for me.

Ryan (00:25:14 - 00:25:15): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:25:15 - 00:25:17): It’s even so good I’d even say it was movie of 2025.

Ryan (00:25:17 - 00:25:18): Oh, Superman?

Ed (00:25:18 - 00:25:43): No, Superman was a movie of 2025. And, uh, speaking about 2025, one of my 2025 pre-orders showed up and I am so excited. McFarlane Kickstarter for Harley Quinn Suicide Squad. And I went all in. I went for the top level because the way McFarlane is, you can choose your tier.

Ryan (00:25:43 - 00:25:43): Yep.

Ed (00:25:43 - 00:26:16): So I went for top tier, level 4. So I got the Joker. I also get another Harley Quinn in black attire, so it’s her Daddy’s Little Monster but it’s all in black. Plus you get multiple arms for Harley so you can swap her over to the jacket, and multiple face plates. And, you know— Oh, I also got the redemption code from the McFarlane store, so I got— that one worked.

Ryan (00:26:17 - 00:26:17): Nice.

Ed (00:26:17 - 00:26:42): So I got that one to work. So that was awesome. I haven’t opened it up to see about getting the one inside, but I got the one in the box that they just throw in because you order direct from McFarlane. And it was like $105 all in. And considering the new Founder Series stuff, yep, that is like retail at $70 Canadian for one figure.

Ryan (00:26:42 - 00:26:42): Yep.

Ed (00:26:43 - 00:26:48): And here I get 3 figures. that I would gladly pay $33 apiece for.

Ryan (00:26:48 - 00:26:48): Yep.

Ed (00:26:48 - 00:27:27): Like, I got like— and I love Margot Robbie as like Suicide Squad Harley is one of my favorite looks and designs for Harley. Like, I think it is perfection. I think the only one that is just as good is the, um, Arkham Asylum Nurse Harley. I love that look. But yeah, this is— I haven’t taken out of the box yet because even the packaging is awesome on it. And it’s just like, man, we are getting hosed on the Founder Series. There must be a big licensing fee going to the artists on those because—

Ryan (00:27:27 - 00:27:29): The rest of the Image guys. Yeah.

Ed (00:27:29 - 00:27:38): Like, there’s no— like, as much as I love the Savage Dragon one, yeah, like $70, it’s not worth the $70.

Ryan (00:27:38 - 00:27:38): No.

Ed (00:27:38 - 00:27:48): When you consider you get a Kickstarter of a DC property of someone as— like, this is a figure people have been wanting.

Ryan (00:27:48 - 00:27:49): Yeah.

Ed (00:27:49 - 00:28:02): Because we got the Birds of Prey Harley and we got the, we got the James Gunn Suicide Squad Harley, and that sculpt wasn’t the best, and the Birds of Prey one was okay.

Ryan (00:28:02 - 00:28:03): Yep.

Ed (00:28:03 - 00:28:11): But this is iconic. Like, you go to a Comic-Con, how many people do you see cosplay this version of Harley? Almost everybody.

Ryan (00:28:11 - 00:28:11): Yeah.

Ed (00:28:12 - 00:28:20): And anyways, I’m happy, I’m excited, I finally got it. It was a year in the making. Like, it— I ordered it October.

Ryan (00:28:20 - 00:28:23): I had forgotten about it until you had said you got yours.

Ed (00:28:23 - 00:28:47): Yeah, yeah, I ordered it. Um, I was going to an event in Toronto when the when it opened up for pre-orders, and I was like, yep, I’m jumping on board. So— oh, um, and sorry, I just— as I looked over, I got 2 other little things that you guys delivered to me last night. Um, the Masters of the WWE Universe, brother.

Ryan (00:28:47 - 00:28:49): Yeah, brother.

Ed (00:28:49 - 00:28:55): I ended up getting the Hulk Hogan in Horde armor.

Ryan (00:28:55 - 00:28:56): Yep.

Ed (00:28:56 - 00:29:26): So it’s NWO Hulk Hogan with the Horde and battle damage He-Man style armor for American Nightmare Cody Rhodes. So I got my Cody and I got my He-Man or my Hulk Hogan, and I’m actually gonna put those down in the Masters Collection and not in the— because I already have, uh, Ultimate Warrior and Mr. T. Yeah, because those are the only other Masters of the WWE figures I got.

Ryan (00:29:26 - 00:30:09): Uh, yeah, Brent and I were out running around yesterday. We found those in the South End Walmart, and he was excited because he was looking for them as well. So he want— he picked up the, the Shawn Michaels. Uh, his arm— he’s got like armor as if he’s like Bo. Yeah, and Brent’s been a big collector of those Masters of the WWE figures. Between those ones and his, uh, Turtles of Grayskull. He’s got more not He-Man He-Man figures than he has He-Man figures. Uh, or at the very least, he was like he could make a full display with his Castle Grayskull of just like, yeah, using MOTU— I mean, a WWE Universe and Turtle Universe in, in the MOTU setting.

Ed (00:30:09 - 00:30:13): Yeah, I’m still not happy about the price of Origins.

Ryan (00:30:13 - 00:30:16): No, it’s gone up so much.

Ed (00:30:16 - 00:30:28): Yeah, $35 for an Origins figure is a bit, a bit much. Um, but anyways, speaking about Origins, let’s get into San Diego because there’s a lot of stuff to unpack.

July Toy News Before SDCC

Ryan (00:30:28 - 00:30:35): Well, before we even get into San Diego, we’ve still got our regular July announcements.

Ed (00:30:35 - 00:30:36): Oh, oh yeah.

Ryan (00:30:37 - 00:31:04): Okay, so there’s not as many because, you know, people are waiting for San Diego, so we’ll— all right, we’ll speed through some of this. Um, so one of the news items I had here was, uh, that Hasbro has signed a licensing deal with Nintendo and has acquired the rights to make figures for The Legend of Zelda, which, uh, Zelda, Link, and some bad guy that I don’t know, which I’ve been playing Pulse, or I’ve been on Pulse a lot. Yep.

Ed (00:31:04 - 00:31:10): And yeah, all the Legend of Zelda stuff is sold out.

Ryan (00:31:10 - 00:31:16): Yeah, gone. So you could still pre-order it on EB Games?

Ed (00:31:16 - 00:31:16): Yep.

Ryan (00:31:16 - 00:31:30): Well, you get Zelda and the other guy. Link was sold out on the website. Uh, I did go into the store because my brother wanted them. I wanted Link and Zelda, and I was able to pre-order those for him in store. Have you—

Ed (00:31:30 - 00:31:35): I’ve been— I’ve been— no, I mentioned it before, but watching Saturday Morning Simulator.

Ryan (00:31:35 - 00:31:35): Yep.

Ed (00:31:35 - 00:31:46): The Legend of Zelda has been on there, but it’s— I think it’s the one they’ve only been playing it because it was the second half of the Mario—

Ryan (00:31:46 - 00:31:48): The Mario Brothers 3 cartoon, wasn’t it?

Ed (00:31:48 - 00:31:55): No, it wasn’t the Mario Brothers 3. It was the Mario Brothers Live, where it was the cartoon with the live action with Lou Albano.

Ryan (00:31:55 - 00:31:56): And he was one of those two.

Ed (00:31:56 - 00:31:59): So they started cutting the, the Mario Brothers off.

Ryan (00:31:59 - 00:32:00): Okay.

Ed (00:32:00 - 00:32:12): So it’s just the Link and Zelda. But it’s funny, like, every— I don’t know why, but in that one it was like every time Link was saying something to Zelda, it was like, excuse me, princess.

Ryan (00:32:12 - 00:32:12): Oh yeah.

Ed (00:32:12 - 00:32:34): And I started laughing because all I can hear is, is Steve Martin in my head when he says that, because it’s kind of like Steve Martin’s stand-up comedy. He’s like, well, excuse me. But yeah, I just, uh, It is interesting that they got the license, especially— was it, um, who’s— was it Jakks was making the, the small?

Ryan (00:32:34 - 00:32:43): Yeah, Nintendo stuff. Yeah, because there’s still, uh, like, I saw like a Zelda in Walmart yesterday. Yeah, the other day, not yesterday.

Ed (00:32:43 - 00:32:50): And though those figures were pretty decent articulation, the price point was awesome, like, you know, $15 Canadian.

Ryan (00:32:50 - 00:33:17): So these ones are more the, uh, in that around you know, the $40 price range of 6-inch figures that we’re getting nowadays. Uh, okay, so as always, we started off with McFarlane. So they announced some Page Punchers. Uh, there’s a Batman based on the Batman ‘89 comic book, that’s the one that takes place after the first 2 movies. Mm-hmm. There’s a Red Platinum Edition of Two-Face.

Ed (00:33:17 - 00:33:18): Yes.

Ryan (00:33:18 - 00:33:19): From that comic.

Ed (00:33:19 - 00:33:21): I have those on pre-order.

Ryan (00:33:21 - 00:33:22): I figured you would.

Ed (00:33:22 - 00:33:29): Because I needed a, a Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face. And well, it’s ‘89 Batman.

Ryan (00:33:29 - 00:33:29): Exactly.

Ed (00:33:29 - 00:33:37): The, the neat thing, it looks like they’re kind of reusing the same sculpt as the other ’89s. It’s just the interior of the cape’s going to be purple.

Ryan (00:33:37 - 00:33:42): Yeah, which is nice. There’s a nice little— it’ll help it stand out on the shelf.

Ed (00:33:42 - 00:33:45): I still haven’t read that comic book series yet.

Ryan (00:33:45 - 00:33:45): I don’t either.

Ed (00:33:45 - 00:33:47): It’s next on my list of things to read.

Ryan (00:33:47 - 00:33:48): Do you have the comics?

Ed (00:33:48 - 00:33:48): Oh, I have them.

Ryan (00:33:48 - 00:33:49): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:33:49 - 00:33:51): So it’s on my list of things to read.

Ryan (00:33:51 - 00:33:54): And your big pile of comics to catch up on.

Ed (00:33:54 - 00:34:01): I’ve, I’ve knocked through all my Thors, so I had 6 years of Thor sitting there that finally got read.

Ryan (00:34:01 - 00:34:01): Nice.

Ed (00:34:01 - 00:34:04): So yeah, now I, I’m working at it.

Ryan (00:34:05 - 00:34:06): Well, and I haven’t—

Ed (00:34:06 - 00:34:08): I even bought a comic when I was on the road.

Ryan (00:34:08 - 00:34:08): What would you buy?

Ed (00:34:08 - 00:34:11): Mad Magazine spoofs superheroes.

Ryan (00:34:11 - 00:34:12): Okay.

Ed (00:34:12 - 00:34:24): I bought it because it was pretty expensive, it was $20. But when I’m going through, it’s reprints of the history of superheroes within Mad Magazine.

Ryan (00:34:24 - 00:34:24): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:34:24 - 00:34:29): So, you know, well, I picked up some Mads at the, at the comic book shop.

Ryan (00:34:29 - 00:34:30): Yeah, last time you were in the shop.

Ed (00:34:30 - 00:34:34): So I have— what is it, uh, the Super Duper Man one?

Ryan (00:34:34 - 00:34:35): Okay.

Ed (00:34:35 - 00:34:37): So it actually reprints Super Duper Man.

Ryan (00:34:37 - 00:34:38): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:34:38 - 00:35:05): Which I just sort of flipped through it because I just bought those Mads basically for their artwork. Yeah, I was just buying them for— yeah, like, okay, I’ll read them, but I was buying them for, for decoration. Yeah, for posters and stuff. Yeah, but this one I actually read, and like, they take— yeah, it was neat. So it’s kind of neat reading the Mad Magazine, and also you realize Mad Magazine was so much better in the ’60s and ’70s than it is in the 2000s. Yeah, way more wild.

Ryan (00:35:05 - 00:35:48): Yeah, uh, okay. So, and then continue on the Batman train, there’s a Batman, another Batman based on Justice #1. So it’s like Alex Ross art-based Batman. And then of course the Red Platinum is another Alex Ross one from Justice #1, and it’s the Superman. So very tempting. Uh, they announced some San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, so like if you’re there right now you can buy them, uh, and they’ll probably be available you know, limited quantities next week on some, you know, maybe from McFarlane or something. But, uh, Gold Label Red Hood from Under the Red Hood. There’s a Green Lantern Kilowog. There’s a Yellow Lantern Kilowog.

Ed (00:35:48 - 00:35:48): Yep.

Ryan (00:35:48 - 00:36:27): Version, uh, a White Lantern Kyle Rayner, and a DC Classics The Question. Uh, from, uh, there’s a DC Classics Red Platinum of Black Mask. That looked really cool. And then they’re doing some stuff they’re calling From the Vault, and it’s reissues. Uh-huh. So there’s, uh, this is— well, we already talked last time. Oh no, you recently already pre-ordered an ASBAT in the darker color scheme, right? Because you said you liked that darker color scheme.

Ed (00:36:27 - 00:36:28): Oh, I have them.

Ryan (00:36:29 - 00:36:29): Oh, you already got it?

Ed (00:36:29 - 00:36:43): Yeah, because I went to go preorder this one because there’s some confusion. If you go to McFarlane’s store, it shows the dark blue. When you go to preorder, it’s showing the light blue.

Ryan (00:36:43 - 00:36:45): Yeah, the From the Vault is the light blue.

Ed (00:36:45 - 00:36:51): Yeah, but if you look at their ad on the McFarlane Instagram and their social media, they’re showing the dark blue.

Ryan (00:36:51 - 00:36:53): Interesting.

Ed (00:36:53 - 00:37:05): Because I was like, Oh crap, I gotta get it. And I ordered it. And then I was like, wait a minute. So I called home and I said, hey, can somebody go down to the bat shelf and do you see a dark blue JPV?

Ryan (00:37:05 - 00:37:06): Yeah.

Ed (00:37:06 - 00:37:24): And Ryan goes down, he’s like, yeah, it’s right here. I’m like, son of a gun. Well, you— then you got to jump through some hoops to cancel stuff on EB Games because before you could just hit cancel. I actually sent them an email and said, please cancel my pre-order. So they did because I’m like, I’m not ordering the toothpaste version again.

Ryan (00:37:24 - 00:37:27): Yeah, you already have that, like the light blue version.

Ed (00:37:27 - 00:37:38): Yeah, like I have the light blue, I’m great with it. The dark blue is the better one, and if it ends up being dark blue with some extra accessories, then okay, I’ll buy it again.

Ryan (00:37:38 - 00:37:43): But yeah, because they had announced the dark blue one, I feel like a couple—

Ed (00:37:43 - 00:37:44): like last month.

Ryan (00:37:44 - 00:37:48): Yeah, I end up getting in May or something like that.

Ed (00:37:48 - 00:37:50): Yeah, so you— okay, so you do have it already. Okay. No, it was actually June because we were talking about 666.

Ryan (00:37:51 - 00:38:36): Yeah, so they’re reissuing the light blue. It’s what— from what I can tell, uh, Power Girl, um, a Mr. Freeze comic book version and stuff, and the— that— the Santa Batman in the red suit. Yes, they showed off a, uh, from their video game line, some God of War figures. So there’s, uh, Ragnarok Kratos, uh, in Ares armor and somebody called, uh, Einheljar. I don’t know, I’ve never played the game. Yeah, uh, there’s in— and yeah, there was a new Walmart, uh, CollectorCon exclusive Helldiver in Gold Eagle armor. I might look at getting that if I ever see it in store, but because that’ll be the cheaper of the Helldiver figures.

Ed (00:38:36 - 00:38:37): Yeah.

Ryan (00:38:37 - 00:38:54): Uh, so we had some render reveals for GI Joe, which we’ve now Are we on San Diego news or regular? No, no, this is what I’m gonna say, which we’ve now seen at San Diego, so I’m gonna— well, I’ll skip the one. Okay, but Walmart CollectorCon had Nightforce.

Ed (00:38:54 - 00:38:59): No, no, hold on, McFarlane stuff. Oh yeah, are you going back to McFarlane?

Ryan (00:38:59 - 00:39:08): Yeah, back in San Diego. Yeah, this is the pre-San Diego releases. Okay, I wanted— I split it up this year instead of just so that way we can just, just talk about San Diego stuff.

Ed (00:39:08 - 00:39:08): All right.

Ryan (00:39:08 - 00:39:12): Because yeah, there wasn’t a whole lot of pre-San Diego announcements.

Ed (00:39:12 - 00:39:15): Okay, um, we got Walmart, CollectorCon.

Ryan (00:39:15 - 00:39:22): Yeah, so Walmart, CollectorCon, G.I. Joe, and then they end up doing a reissue of Range Viper. Range Viper, thank you.

Ed (00:39:22 - 00:39:26): And he sold out quick, of course, which if you want one, I got one on pre-order.

Ryan (00:39:26 - 00:39:28): Oh, did you? Okay, well, I’ll think about it because—

Ed (00:39:30 - 00:39:36): yes, so they came out with Psycho. Yep. And Psycho wasn’t showing up on Walmart Canada.

Ryan (00:39:36 - 00:39:37): Oh, okay.

Ed (00:39:37 - 00:39:46): So I was able to get in right at when it dropped, and I ordered Psych-Out and Range Viper.

Ryan (00:39:46 - 00:39:47): Okay.

Ed (00:39:47 - 00:39:51): Because I didn’t know if maybe they’re gonna update the Range Viper a little bit.

Ryan (00:39:51 - 00:39:52): If it’d be a little different than— I think—

Ed (00:39:52 - 00:39:56): Because the plastic was a little bit softer on the Range Viper.

Ryan (00:39:56 - 00:39:56): Okay.

Ed (00:39:56 - 00:40:02): So like his weapons, like the sculpt is great, but the weapons are kind of spongy.

Ryan (00:40:03 - 00:40:03): Yeah.

Ed (00:40:03 - 00:40:10): So I was like, you know what, I’m gonna order it. And then I asked you guys and you’re like, oh, you guys were like, no, we’re good.

Ryan (00:40:10 - 00:40:10): Yeah.

Ed (00:40:10 - 00:40:19): So then I went in and just ordered because Psych-Out was still available, so I ordered another one. So I got 2 Psych-Outs coming and a Range Viper.

Ryan (00:40:19 - 00:40:19): Okay.

Ed (00:40:19 - 00:40:36): So then that will give you guys like until September to make a decision if you want them or not, because if you don’t want them, I’m gonna cancel Like, again, same thing with the Walmart CollectorCon. It’s either going to be 2 ways. There’s going to be a ton of it.

Ryan (00:40:36 - 00:40:36): Yeah.

Ed (00:40:36 - 00:40:39): Or, or none of it.

Ryan (00:40:39 - 00:40:39): Yeah.

Ed (00:40:39 - 00:40:46): And Crystal Ball, like Crystal Ball, how many people were scrambling for Crystal Ball and then it became peg warmers?

Ryan (00:40:46 - 00:40:47): Yeah.

Ed (00:40:47 - 00:40:49): But, and then now—

Ryan (00:40:49 - 00:40:51): Well, it’s not up here, but—

Ed (00:40:51 - 00:40:54): No. And then now we’re starting to see like Night Creeper come up.

Ryan (00:40:54 - 00:41:01): Here, like the Dire Trek. I saw— so the Southern Walmart that had that display was filled up with them again.

Ed (00:41:01 - 00:41:07): Yeah. So same with— like, same with Psych-Out. Like, are we gonna see him or, or not?

Ryan (00:41:07 - 00:41:08): Whatever.

Ed (00:41:08 - 00:41:19): So there’s an extra one. So hey Drew, if you’re listening and you’d be like, no, to heck with Ryan, I want the Psych-Out, then just tell Ryan and— or whatever.

Ryan (00:41:19 - 00:41:29): Well, Cook you up. Uh, so MOTU, we had a San Diego exclusive announced, so it’s available right now. That is the, uh— oh, that was—

Ed (00:41:29 - 00:41:31): no, this was Jimbro Skeletor.

Ryan (00:41:31 - 00:41:38): Jimbro Skeletor was the San Diego. They have also announced before San Diego of an upcoming Dream Date Skeletor.

Ed (00:41:38 - 00:41:47): Yes, which pre-orders haven’t showed up yet for Dream Date. Um, Jimbro I got him.

Ryan (00:41:47 - 00:41:48): Nice. Got him ordered?

Ed (00:41:48 - 00:41:57): Yeah, I had timers set for the minute that it dropped. So like when it dropped, it was like buying tickets from Ticketmaster.

Ryan (00:41:57 - 00:41:58): Nice.

Ed (00:41:58 - 00:42:05): I could add them to my cart, then you go into a queue. So it was like there’s no guarantee you’re even gonna get it.

Ryan (00:42:05 - 00:42:06): No.

Ed (00:42:06 - 00:42:11): So I was in a queue for 4 minutes, and by the time I got out of the queue, it was like, yes, you can order one.

Ryan (00:42:12 - 00:42:12): Nice.

Ed (00:42:12 - 00:42:25): So I did get, uh, Jimbro. Um, yeah, I’m seeing these other influencers, you know, the people who have more listeners than us, even though we have better listeners than they do.

Ryan (00:42:25 - 00:42:26): Yeah, ours are awesome.

Ed (00:42:26 - 00:42:35): Um, they got previews of Jimbro to open up and play with, and it’s like, damn, you guys suck.

Ryan (00:42:35 - 00:42:36): Yep.

Ed (00:42:36 - 00:42:43): Hey, I know it’s bit of FOMO, but it’s like, man, that’s pretty cool to be able to get that kind of stuff.

Ryan (00:42:44 - 00:42:44): Yeah.

Ed (00:42:44 - 00:42:48): And, uh, but yeah, Jimbro disappeared quick.

Ryan (00:42:48 - 00:42:49): Oh yeah.

Ed (00:42:49 - 00:42:52): And I can’t wait till Date Night comes out, and I imagine they’ll probably come out.

Ryan (00:42:52 - 00:43:16): Yeah, the HR one. Yeah. Uh, so we got some Star Wars pre-con announcements. There’s a Walmart CollectorCon 2-pack of a clone— of clone troopers, a Dogma and Hardcase. So some more named clone troopers. Uh, the 2026 Halloween figure has been announced. There’s a Mon Calamari that’s painted up to look like the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Ed (00:43:16 - 00:43:17): Yep.

Ryan (00:43:17 - 00:43:44): Uh, there’s, uh, uh, the Jedi Togruta, one of the ones with the headdresses, made to look like the Bride of Frankenstein. And then it was a Tusken Raider done up to be, uh, the Invisible Man. Translucent plastic. Yeah, uh, yeah, and that was it for pre-San Diego announcements. Okay, because everybody was waiting for San Diego.

SDCC 2026: G.I. Joe and Hasbro

Ed (00:43:44 - 00:43:47): All right, so now we’re on to the San Diego stuff, right, Ryan?

Ryan (00:43:47 - 00:43:48): Yes. Okay, let me bring up—

Ed (00:43:49 - 00:43:52): all right, let’s get back into the San Diego part 2.

Ryan (00:43:52 - 00:43:57): Here we go. So I broke it down by, by brand.

Ed (00:43:57 - 00:43:57): Yes.

Ryan (00:43:57 - 00:44:10): And manufacturer. So a bunch of Hasbro stuff, then a bunch of this, and then So of course we’re going to start with our favorites. I’m going to start with Hasbro GI Joe. Yes, big panel, lots of cool announcements. They showed off some awesome stuff.

Ed (00:44:10 - 00:44:14): So with also some celebrities.

Ryan (00:44:14 - 00:44:30): Yes, yes. So the previously only render name-dropped retro cards, we got to, to see them, and it’s going to be Falcon, Uh, classic female Cobra Trooper and Flash.

Ed (00:44:30 - 00:44:44): Yes. And the, the Falcon is the one that I mentioned that the, the leaked image, the, the, the card art looks— yeah, I’m still buying because I love Falcon. Falcon still.

Ryan (00:44:44 - 00:44:45): And you love the retro-carded ones.

Ed (00:44:45 - 00:44:48): Yeah, well, plus G.I. Joe, I buy everything. Yep.

Ryan (00:44:49 - 00:44:58): Uh, so there’s a new Amazon exclusive Crimson Armor or Crimson version of the Snake Armor. Yes, uh, looks really good in red and black.

Ed (00:44:58 - 00:45:08): Yep. Yeah, I saw— never read the comments, but I read the comments and some people, why are you giving us the same crap you already— Because it’s cheap, guys.

Ryan (00:45:09 - 00:45:23): They need to reuse the molds. Be happy. It’s for the people that either couldn’t afford the white one when it first came out, or— and then got FOMO, or want more colors of them. Bought one and would like a second one in a different color.

Ed (00:45:23 - 00:45:25): Maybe it’s Malibu Stacy with a different hat.

Ryan (00:45:25 - 00:45:47): There you go. Uh, uh, the aforementioned live-action guests. Yes, you know, we got, uh, 2 different Cobra Commanders showed up, and Cold Slither was there. Slither was there to promote their concert, but the man of the hour, Sergeant Slaughter, chased them off.

Ed (00:45:47 - 00:45:49): I’ve watched a video of it and it was pretty fun.

Ryan (00:45:49 - 00:46:03): Yeah, it was pretty entertaining. And so Sarge was there because they had, I guess, in hand at the booth and in person, they were showing off the next version of Sergeant Slaughter and the Triple T tank.

Ed (00:46:03 - 00:46:09): Yes, I am so excited for it. And it’s going to be a Pulse exclusive.

Ryan (00:46:09 - 00:46:10): It’s a Pulse exclusive.

Ed (00:46:10 - 00:46:14): Yeah. So that means I can only get 2.

Ryan (00:46:14 - 00:46:15): Is it 2 or 3?

Ed (00:46:15 - 00:46:25): No, I’m Pulse exclusive on stuff. Is this 2? Okay, on some of that stuff it is 2, so I can only get 2. So y’all need to fight amongst yourself of who’s getting the other one.

Ryan (00:46:25 - 00:46:34): Well, in theory it should show up on EB as part of their Pulse partnership because they get Pulse exclusives. Yep.

Ed (00:46:34 - 00:47:04): So, oh, it looks so good. Plus, plus the Sergeant Slaughter coming with the battle helmet, like, I love his, his campaign cover. But it’s like, man, just the fact that he comes with a helmet now, it’s gonna look like, like Madison Square Garden, you know, boot camp match with Pat Patterson. It’s just like, you give me— like, I am— as much as the, the cool stuff he could do with WWE, I am so glad he’s on his own.

Ryan (00:47:04 - 00:47:05): Yeah.

Ed (00:47:05 - 00:47:12): Because now he can do stuff with Cardona and come out with wrestling figures. He can come out with wrestling, like, with G.I. Joe stuff.

Ryan (00:47:12 - 00:47:12): Yep.

Ed (00:47:13 - 00:47:31): And if they just keep pumping out the license, I’m like, I’m good, I’m good with them. And I, I would actually prefer he sign a Legends contract with G.I. Joe and him never do another wrestling action figure again and just like forever—

Ryan (00:47:31 - 00:47:39): A WWE, like, just, yeah, if he wants to still do like, you know, small toys, you know, small company Yeah, wrestling figures.

Ed (00:47:40 - 00:47:44): And yeah, but give me, give me, give me Sergeant Slaughter as G.I. Joe forever.

Ryan (00:47:44 - 00:47:45): Yeah.

Ed (00:47:45 - 00:48:13): And it’s also funny too, I was talking with the kids earlier about like the nicest people I’ve met in wrestling, and it’s like I’ve interacted with Sergeant Slaughter like 6 times, and you know, it’s just like he’s been, he’s been great every single time. Like I’ve never seen a bad thing with Sergeant Slaughter. Like, yeah, sometimes he’s kind of sitting there scrolling on his phone and his handler is a little bit, you know, yeah, hey, he’s there to make money, right?

Ryan (00:48:13 - 00:48:18): But, but it just— he respects his role in G.I.

Ed (00:48:18 - 00:48:18): Joe.

Ryan (00:48:19 - 00:48:20): He loves the fan base.

Ed (00:48:21 - 00:48:21): Yeah.

Ryan (00:48:22 - 00:48:37): Um, and just like he was talking about, you know, he told the story about how it was his wife that convinced him to, to sign up because Vince wouldn’t let him. Well, and you can always wrestle, but you can always go back to wrestling, you know. There’s only one person that could be the first live-action G.I. Joe.

Ed (00:48:37 - 00:49:16): Yeah, and the fact that he could still wrestle with, with AWA. And but yeah, I just love the fact that he has been all in on G.I. Joe and has— yeah, like he respects the product, he respects the fans. And you go and see his booth and he has G.I. Joe shit on his booth. So like, like the fact that when you meet him at a con, yeah, you can get wrestling stuff, but if you’re a G.I. Joe fan— and like even when I showed up as Sergeant Slaughter at Hamilton and he just looks at me and is like— it was— if you look at it a certain way, it could be an insult.

Ryan (00:49:16 - 00:49:16): Yeah.

Ed (00:49:16 - 00:49:28): Because I’m dressed up like him and he just looked at me, how are you doing, Sarge? And I’m like, I said, I’m good, Sarge, how are you? I wasn’t doing his voice to him because I’m like Hey, I’ll dress up looking like you, but I’m not gonna—

Ryan (00:49:28 - 00:49:29): I’m not gonna impersonate you to you.

Ed (00:49:29 - 00:49:42): No. But it was also funny too, like, even being at the con as Sergeant Slaughter, you can get both ways because you get people who are excited to see you because of wrestling, and you get people excited to see you because of G.I.

Ryan (00:49:42 - 00:49:42): Joe.

Ed (00:49:42 - 00:49:48): And that’s where it’s just so cool. Maybe I should grow my mustache out for Fan Expo.

Ryan (00:49:48 - 00:49:48): There you go.

Ed (00:49:48 - 00:49:50): Maybe it’s time to do Sergeant Slaughter again.

Ryan (00:49:50 - 00:49:51): Sergeant Slaughter. Yeah, there you go.

Ed (00:49:51 - 00:49:52): That’d be good.

Ryan (00:49:52 - 00:49:53): Do them on the Thursday or the Fridays.

Ed (00:49:53 - 00:49:58): Yeah. Oh, maybe I’ll go see John Cena. Turn hot, you maggot!

Ryan (00:50:01 - 00:50:23): Anyways, back to the news. Back to the rest of these lovely long lists we got here. Uh, they showed off the— they announced before, to go with all this new Arctic stuff, there was going to be a 3-pack. Yeah, so it’s an Arctic Snowtrooper 3-pack. It’s going to also be a Pulse exclusive at the end of the month. Yes, it had, um, a Jotrooper and 2 Cobra— 2 different Cobra Vipers. Troopers.

Ed (00:50:23 - 00:50:36): There’s supposed to be a whole bunch of stuff available for pre-order on the 10th of April— or sorry, 10th of August. Uh, that’s when all the San Diego, like the Fatal Fluffies and the Shipwreck, is supposed to be. The, the 10th.

Ryan (00:50:36 - 00:50:37): Okay.

Ed (00:50:37 - 00:50:43): Because I go on and it tells me— it gives you a timer now, tells you until it’s released.

Ryan (00:50:43 - 00:50:43): Okay.

Ed (00:50:43 - 00:50:45): So 16 days and blah blah blah blah blah.

Ryan (00:50:45 - 00:50:46): Yeah.

Ed (00:50:46 - 00:50:53): Um, And then there’s another drop, uh, well, the Triple T’s on the 12th. Yep.

Ryan (00:50:53 - 00:50:56): And then the, the 3-pack’s on the 26th.

Ed (00:50:56 - 00:50:56): Yep.

Ryan (00:50:58 - 00:51:02): Uh, and then we got name-only reveals for Wave 1 of 2027.

Ed (00:51:03 - 00:51:03): Yep.

Ryan (00:51:03 - 00:51:05): So we are getting Hardball.

Ed (00:51:05 - 00:51:09): That would be— I’m excited for Hardball because Hardball had a cool look to him.

Ryan (00:51:09 - 00:51:45): Okay, that’s the— yeah, the baseball guy. The baseball guy. Yeah. We’re getting a more modern-looking Shipwreck. So they showed the one, the one that they showed off on that card back. They said in a thing, in a video later, this isn’t the exact figure we’re doing, but this is like the representation. Yeah, it’s sort of the Navy SEAL Merchant Marine, because like the one that we’ve done gotten is like the light blue shirt and all that kind of stuff. So like they’ll do a more modern looking classified up sailor. We’re getting, uh, Diana from the October Guard.

Ed (00:51:45 - 00:51:58): Yep, which she’d be the first October Guard. Yep, which I’m excited for. I hope they give us everyone like Horror Show and Horror Show, Red Star, Drangnovsky.

Ryan (00:51:58 - 00:52:01): So the October Guard, good or bad? Who are they?

Ed (00:52:01 - 00:52:04): They are the Russian version of G.I. Joe.

Ryan (00:52:04 - 00:52:05): Okay.

Ed (00:52:05 - 00:52:14): Yes, so like even if you go back to like in the comics, they were— yeah, they were in competition with G.I. Joe.

Ryan (00:52:14 - 00:52:14): Okay.

Ed (00:52:14 - 00:52:16): So, but they’re the Russian version.

Ryan (00:52:16 - 00:52:17): Yeah.

Ed (00:52:17 - 00:52:38): And then if— when you get later on, that’s where some members of the October Guard end up joining G.I. Joe, like Red Star and Big Bear. They joined. Um, and then, yeah, it was a really— Larry Hama did the one storyline where he like killed off the whole October Guard. Everyone, everyone was killed.

Ryan (00:52:38 - 00:52:39): Jeez.

Ed (00:52:39 - 00:52:44): Yeah, they also showed up in the cartoon quite a few times too.

Ryan (00:52:44 - 00:52:51): Okay. Yeah, uh, then we got, uh, we were— then we’re getting the Heat Viper. He’s the troop builder of the wave. I—

Ed (00:52:52 - 00:53:09): and as like how much I love like ‘89 and ‘90 Vipers, because we got Frag Viper and we got Range Viper, and I forgot completely about Heat Viper. Heat Viper was awesome. Like, I love that one even though he’s like An orange character. Like, I love him.

Ryan (00:53:09 - 00:53:14): It sounds like he’s got a big gun. It’s like a big anti-tank laser gun or something like this.

Ed (00:53:14 - 00:53:41): Yep, yep. And it, it like, it pops. Like, there’s a sight that ends up clipping onto the side of his head and, you know, like— oh yeah, I’m excited for Heat Viper. I’m hoping we get Laser Viper, but I really hope we get Rock Viper at one time. Rock Viper is a really cool looking figure. Nothing wrong with him. Uh, I think they can do great things with Rock Viper for Classified.

Ryan (00:53:42 - 00:54:00): Uh, and then rounding out the wave is a brand new Dreadnought original character. It was one of Lenny’s last designs before leaving the company. He worked on this one. Uh, it’s a new Dreadnought called Flatline, and they’re saying— all they’re saying is he’s got, uh, a defibrillator sledgehammer.

Ed (00:54:03 - 00:54:04): Okay.

Ryan (00:54:04 - 00:54:16): Or like a defibrillator hammer. So like, I’m picturing a big, you know, defibrillators sticking out of both sides of like a sledgehammer handle that he can like hit people with and electrocute them.

Ed (00:54:16 - 00:54:17): Is he a doctor who—

Ryan (00:54:17 - 00:54:27): He’s the Dreadnought’s medic. Maybe, maybe that’s what we’ll find out. Yeah, swamp doctor. He was a doctor who decided he wanted to hang out with the bad guys and ride motorcycles.

Ed (00:54:27 - 00:54:47): Like, yeah, I’m Swamp Buggies. Well, hey, we’ll, we’ll see. Um, there’s a few of their original characters that I’m like, you know, like Sundown was cool looking, but it’s like, how does he fit? You know, the Synapse, we’ll see.

Ryan (00:54:48 - 00:54:48): Yep.

Ed (00:54:49 - 00:54:59): You know, hopefully— hey, I guess there were some original characters too, like, you know, Xania was an original character in the comic, and Shanna being awesome.

Ryan (00:54:59 - 00:54:59): Yep.

Ed (00:55:00 - 00:55:06): So, you know, it’s like same with Burnout. Burnout was another one, but only time will tell. Yeah, we’ll see how Flatline does.

Ryan (00:55:06 - 00:55:18): Uh, so we got a new Ninja Force 2-pack, this time where it’s, uh, Snake Eyes and Jinx, who wasn’t part of the Ninja Force before. No, but they’ve ninja forced her up. It makes sense because she is a ninja.

Ed (00:55:18 - 00:55:32): Yeah. Which we already got Ninja Force looking Snake Eyes. So anyways, whatever. Hey, there’s a reason why Snake Eyes has 100 figures in the line.

Ryan (00:55:32 - 00:55:51): Exactly. They announced that next year’s Retro Carded figures will all be in the theme of the 40th anniversary of the animated movie, and it’ll be characters from that movie, some that have not had care— had figures yet. Some that we’ve received, but that’ll be re-releases.

Ed (00:55:51 - 00:55:54): I imagine Serpentor will be on—

Ryan (00:55:54 - 00:55:59): I would assume. It’d be interesting to see if we get a Serpentor without the chariot. So just like a—

Ed (00:55:59 - 00:56:04): Yeah, no, I imagine it’d be Serpentor on card just because he was—

Ryan (00:56:04 - 00:56:11): Yeah, um, and then this gives us our next year con exclusive of Globulus, maybe. That’s his name, right?

Ed (00:56:11 - 00:56:12): Yeah.

Ryan (00:56:12 - 00:56:12): That makes sense.

Ed (00:56:12 - 00:56:36): I can also see us getting a Chuckles Yeah, uh, because they do more— because if it’s going to be ‘87, then Chuckles, his Hawaiian shirt was a little duller compared to what the, the toy was. So I can see us getting a Chuckles. I can see us not getting a Lieutenant Falcon because we’re getting a Lieutenant Falcon in this wave.

Ryan (00:56:36 - 00:56:37): Yeah.

Ed (00:56:37 - 00:56:46): But I could see us getting Chuckles, Jinx, Law and Order. Um, no, not Law and Order.

Ryan (00:56:46 - 00:56:50): Another Sarge or card— retro card?

Ed (00:56:50 - 00:57:00): I could see a retro card Sarge. Um, I could see— If it’s people who haven’t been shown, it’s both.

Ryan (00:57:00 - 00:57:05): It’s— I said it’ll be a mix of both. There’ll be some that haven’t had figures yet and some that will be re-releases.

Ed (00:57:05 - 00:57:07): I wonder if there’d be Once a Man.

Ryan (00:57:08 - 00:57:16): Maybe Once a Man again, maybe Retro Card. What was the, uh, the woman there that’s in, uh, like the bad guy?

Ed (00:57:16 - 00:57:16): Pythona.

Ryan (00:57:16 - 00:57:19): Pythona, maybe Retro Carded.

Ed (00:57:19 - 00:57:29): Unless, unless they’re giving us ones that— oh, Blind Roadblock.

Ryan (00:57:31 - 00:57:33): Yeah, that would be cool.

Ed (00:57:33 - 00:57:48): That’d be cool because we haven’t got that version of Roadblock yet. We haven’t got, uh, ‘80— because that was ‘86 Roblox. We haven’t got him because that would be— that would be cool. Give us blind Roblox. Um, I’m trying to think who else really stood out.

Ryan (00:57:53 - 00:57:55): Um, Duke with a big snake sticking out of his chest.

Ed (00:57:55 - 00:58:06): Yeah, yeah, dying Duke. Really, it’d be the new recruits, like that, that whole new recruits, like Big Lob, Chuckles.

Ryan (00:58:06 - 00:58:14): We just got Big Lob, but we— it was not on a card back. Yeah, you know, he could be an end-of-year one, so do you have a little more distance between his regular release?

Ed (00:58:14 - 00:58:27): Yeah, because you’re like Lieutenant Falcon. There was— maybe they’ll give us Zorana in disguise because Zorana was in disguise at the beginning of that one when, when she’s getting the tour around the base.

Ryan (00:58:28 - 00:58:40): But anyways. Anyway, so, and then rounded out the last big reveal of the day for them, there was a render reveal of the long-awaited Thunder Machine.

Ed (00:58:40 - 00:58:46): Thunder Machine. Um, yes, I saw the renders.

Ryan (00:58:46 - 00:58:46): Yep.

Ed (00:58:49 - 00:58:55): Uh, I guess they added a few things, which a few things I don’t like that they added, so I’m gonna take those things off.

Ryan (00:58:56 - 00:58:56): Okay.

Ed (00:58:56 - 00:59:02): Um, I think the front of it, they kind of— the front was very much a Camaro.

Ryan (00:59:02 - 00:59:03): Yeah.

Ed (00:59:03 - 00:59:06): And they kind of made it look un-Camaro-ish.

Ryan (00:59:06 - 00:59:09): There’s probably legal reasons why they had to do that.

Ed (00:59:09 - 00:59:16): Yeah, I think I remember in the packaging or something like that, they actually had to say like, you know, acknowledge GMC or something like that.

Ryan (00:59:16 - 00:59:18): The Camaro is a copyrighted image.

Ed (00:59:18 - 00:59:24): Yeah. Um, I like the fire effects on the, on the On the turbine on the back.

Ryan (00:59:25 - 00:59:27): Um, I’m sure that comes off.

Ed (00:59:27 - 00:59:38): Some of the guns that snap on, it was like, okay, yeah, I’m good with the classifying up. Um, the fact that it has body panels at the front on the front wheel, those are going to come off because they never had those to begin with.

Ryan (00:59:38 - 00:59:39): Yeah.

Ed (00:59:39 - 00:59:46): Um, you and I, when we were talking about it and you’re saying, oh well, you know, this is a troop builder— no, you can’t troop build a Thunder Machine.

Ryan (00:59:46 - 01:00:35): Well, they have— so they’ve said that Thrasher is not coming with it. Yeah, because we will, we will see Thrasher next year, but not with a Thunder Machine because they didn’t want to lock him behind, you know, with a vehicle, much as that’s how he was originally released. But so it makes me— and they didn’t say he was— it was going to come with a driver. I think actually, you know what, watching the, the, uh, like pre-production, like the one where there’s not a live studio audience video, I’m pretty sure they said in that that it’s not coming with a driver to help keep the cost down. Well, so, but they made it sound like, uh, the, the mod, you know, the, the— you could— the way you can mod the vehicle, it’s like, oh, you know, you’re gonna want to buy more than one of these. But like you said, well, and there’s always only ever been one Thunder Machine.

Ed (01:00:35 - 01:00:43): If you watch the cartoon and when Thrasher shows up, he says, I bring my own vehicle. So it’s his vehicle.

Ryan (01:00:43 - 01:00:43): Yeah.

Ed (01:00:43 - 01:01:09): Now, if you read the— like, the story is it was just put together from pieces out of a scrapyard and leftover pieces from Mars technology. But I love the Thunder Machine, always have. I own 2 and a half Thunder Machines. But no, it’s only one vehicle.

Ryan (01:01:09 - 01:01:10): Yeah, you can’t troop build.

Ed (01:01:11 - 01:01:13): I just have multiples because I buy multiples.

Ryan (01:01:13 - 01:01:16): Yeah, this one is going to be a made-to-order.

Ed (01:01:16 - 01:01:27): Yeah, which they did with the Hiss, which is fine because I actually kind of like the made-to-order because then it’s like, good, we’re gonna get it. It’s not like, oh yeah, it’s sold out, you’re screwed.

Ryan (01:01:27 - 01:01:45): Like, yeah, it’s not a, oh wait, I couldn’t— I, you know, I wasn’t on at 12, at 1 o’clock on the Tuesday afternoon and by, you know, 5 minutes after 1, it was sold out. Yeah, it’s like, nope. They’re like, cool, you have like a month or 2 months, put in your order. Oh, like that, it’s happening no matter what.

Ed (01:01:45 - 01:01:55): Like that Lara Croft. Yeah, I set a timer for 5, whatever, 5 PM Eastern, and by 10 after 5, she was sold out.

Ryan (01:01:55 - 01:02:25): Yeah, thankfully I was able to pre-order that in store. Yeah, the next day. Because yeah, it sold out on the website that night. Uh, so that was it for Joe’s. We had like one Ghostbuster, like Hasbro Ghostbuster reveal, and it was the, uh, the Real Ghostbusters Kenner Classics Janine Melnitz and Louis Tully 40th Anniversary set, which I kind of want because I’ve got the other ones all still on, like the re-releases on card pinned on my wall in my office.

Ed (01:02:25 - 01:02:26): Oh, nice.

Ryan (01:02:27 - 01:02:33): But it’s like, I think I forget, I looked at the price and I say, uh, that’s a bitter pill to swallow.

Ed (01:02:33 - 01:02:35): $48 US and it’s Pulse exclusive.

Ryan (01:02:35 - 01:02:39): Yeah. So you’ve already ordered one, I assume? Is it up for pre-order yet?

Ed (01:02:39 - 01:02:40): Oh, and it’s already sold out.

Ryan (01:02:40 - 01:02:43): Yeah, exactly. So I won’t be getting one, but that’s—

Ed (01:02:43 - 01:02:58): No, I ordered it. I was like, I thought about it later, I’m like, ooh, I expanded my, my Ghostbusters shelf, Ghostbusters shelf, and now I have Now it’s like, oh, I don’t know where I’m gonna put them. But I figured that’s a—

Ryan (01:02:58 - 01:03:01): that’s, that’s a much— yeah, we’re not gonna see those for months.

Ed (01:03:01 - 01:03:04): That’s a, that’s a shelving podcast, not a toy podcast.

SDCC 2026: Marvel Legends and Star Wars

Ryan (01:03:04 - 01:03:41): Uh, we got a bunch of Marvel announcements yesterday after their panel. Uh, they’re doing a Spider-Man Miles Morales electronic expressive mask. So like that Spider-Man one that they’ve got, which I saw one at Toys R Us during their closing sale. But the original price on it was like $170-something. Yeah, yeah, no. So this is the same one where it’s like the front half is a plastic shield with the fabric back that you can put it on, and it’s got the remote control that moves the eyes, but it’s Miles Morales colors. Yep. There’s a Vision and Scarlet Witch 2-pack, uh, comic book styles.

Ed (01:03:41 - 01:03:42): Okay.

Ryan (01:03:42 - 01:04:12): A brand new Maximum— you know, the Maximum series with the super articulation? There was the Spider-Man and then a Hulk. Well, now it’s a symbiote Spider-Man, uh, which looks really— as much as, you know, it’s like I’m not a big symbiote guy or black suit Spider-Man guy, it is a really nice looking figure. It’s got a Peter, the different Peter head sculpt where he’s got like the 5 o’clock shadow scruff one for when he’s like being influenced by the symbiote being a little, you know, oh, he’s got a scruffy look. And so he’s, he’s darker.

Ed (01:04:12 - 01:04:14): You didn’t do emo version?

Ryan (01:04:14 - 01:04:26): Yeah. Uh, there’s like a little container a glass container with some like with the Venom goo that’s moving around in it. So it looks cool. Uh, a really cool looking Mole Man and Mole Lords pack.

Ed (01:04:26 - 01:04:26): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:04:26 - 01:04:33): Then there’s another wave of their Magic: The Gathering, like where you get a card and a figure.

Ed (01:04:33 - 01:04:34): Yep.

Ryan (01:04:34 - 01:04:59): Because there’s the Marvel, like Marvel Heroes set that’s out. So they did this with Spider-Man, so now there’s everybody else. We’re getting the Black Panther There’s a Captain America from Avengers Twilight. Yeah, there’s a Doom 2099, and there’s a Malice, which is, for those who don’t know, that’s Sue Storm in her, like, for lack of a better term, bondage gear. Yeah, yeah, because like 2 different head sculpts.

Ed (01:04:59 - 01:05:01): Psycho-Man was influencing her.

Ryan (01:05:01 - 01:05:15): Yeah, I, I see that one being a, uh, highly popular sought-after figure. Yep. Because I think that her— that, that costume of hers in— for that video game Marvel Rivals is pretty popular.

Ed (01:05:15 - 01:05:16): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:05:16 - 01:05:29): Uh, and then speaking of Gamerverse, they announced a couple 2-packs. There’s an Iron Man versus Spiral 2-pack. Spiral’s that, uh, I think, you know, evil mutant with like 4 arms.

Ed (01:05:29 - 01:05:32): Yep, she was an X-Force villain.

Ryan (01:05:32 - 01:05:54): Yeah. And then there’s a Wolverine and Psylocke 2-pack. And there’s a repaint or reissue of Gargantos, the big tentacle monster guy with the big eyeball. Yep. This time in Player 2 colors, so he’s purple. Oh, and then right now they’re doing a made-to-order Sentinel from the game.

Ed (01:05:54 - 01:05:57): Yes, I did see that pop up.

Ryan (01:05:57 - 01:06:13): That was nice looking. I added these ones in here. So from the Street Fighter movie that’s coming out, They showed off, uh, some 6-inch figures. There was a Chun-Li, a Ken, a Ryu, and Akuma. I’m not familiar with Akuma.

Ed (01:06:13 - 01:06:14): Akuma is Roman Reigns.

Ryan (01:06:14 - 01:06:15): Oh, okay.

Ed (01:06:15 - 01:06:21): Which they did not say the magic word, so that means I’m not buying any of theirs.

Ryan (01:06:21 - 01:06:22): What’s the magic word?

Ed (01:06:22 - 01:06:24): Cody Rhodes.

Ryan (01:06:24 - 01:06:26): That’s 2 words.

Ed (01:06:26 - 01:06:27): I have to say it fast.

Ryan (01:06:28 - 01:06:52): Uh, so Star Wars announcements. So there, I put this one here just because I think it’s cool. We don’t really talk about vintage scale much, but they showed off an X-wing starfighter with Luke Skywalker in the old Kenner colors. And then, uh, so Black Series, a Captain Enoch electronic helmet. So that’s, uh, Thrawn’s main trooper with the gold faceplate.

Ed (01:06:52 - 01:06:53): Yep.

Ryan (01:06:53 - 01:07:18): Yeah, I might need that one on my shelf. Don’t know if I need to pre-order it or just hoping to see it on, or hope it comes onto the auction site or something. That one, there’s a Clone Trooper Commander Jesse helmet coming. The one I do want, and it’s actually a nice price range, uh, the thermal detonator. Did you see that one?

Ed (01:07:18 - 01:07:19): No, I missed it.

Ryan (01:07:19 - 01:07:43): So it’s a prop. It looks— it’s kind of in the same size as the pump, the Goblin pumpkin bomb, baseball size. Looks just like a thermal detonator. Uh, you press the button, it makes the same noises and starts beeping and counting down. It’s like— and it’s only— it’s— well, I think it was $42 US, so it’d be like $50, $54 Canadian-ish.

Ed (01:07:43 - 01:07:45): $59.99.

Ryan (01:07:45 - 01:07:50): Okay, but yeah, so, uh, that might be something I’ll be looking for to add to my Star Wars props.

Ed (01:07:50 - 01:07:52): Thermal detonator!

Ryan (01:07:53 - 01:07:58): Yep. Uh, then they showed off, uh, you know that bounty— you saw, you saw Mandalorian and Grogu?

Ed (01:07:58 - 01:07:58): Yes.

Ryan (01:07:58 - 01:08:13): The bounty hunter guy with the, like, with the space dog? The guy with the hat that was chasing them and then had like the, the creature that grabbed like the Babu Frik in his mouth?

Ed (01:08:13 - 01:08:17): Holy crap, I barely remember that movie.

Ryan (01:08:18 - 01:08:24): Oh really? Okay, so there’s the bounty hunter that was like— that caught, uh, Din Djarin and brought him to the Hutts.

Ed (01:08:24 - 01:08:27): Yep.

Ryan (01:08:27 - 01:08:34): Okay, so Yoda is getting a figure on his own. They announced a set of him with his, his pet.

Ed (01:08:34 - 01:08:35): Okay.

Ryan (01:08:35 - 01:08:39): Uh, and then they’ve also— they announced a Road to the Hutt, which looks pretty cool.

Ed (01:08:39 - 01:08:41): Black Series?

Ryan (01:08:41 - 01:08:54): Black Series scale. Yep, these are all Black Series. I didn’t put— there was also a Vintage one, but like I said, we don’t really collect Vintage, so it’s not in here. Uh, ooh, a Nightsister, the Mother Talzin. So from, from the Ahsoka series, I assume.

Ed (01:08:54 - 01:08:54): Yep.

Ryan (01:08:54 - 01:09:05): But that’s cool that they’re doing a Nightsister. Oh, you know what, I think I missed someone here. Okay, uh, Gar Saxon from The Mandalorian is a Mandalorian Imperial Super Commando.

Ed (01:09:05 - 01:09:05): Yep.

Ryan (01:09:05 - 01:09:29): One of Maul’s guys, I think. Uh, and speaking of that Maul Shadow Lord cartoon, there’s a whole nother wave of figures There’s a Mandalorian Super Commando Keb’ris. There’s Icarus, which was the guy that kind of looked like he was the same alien type as Maul, who had the big laser Gatling gun. And, uh, the Inquisitor Marrok.

Ed (01:09:29 - 01:09:30): Gotcha.

Ryan (01:09:30 - 01:09:54): There’s an Ahsoka and ARC Trooper Jesse 2-pack. Oh, and I missed adding this one to the list because it was announced, I think, the other night, but they’re finally doing, uh, Queen Amidala in her like fancy big red dress. Uh, yeah, and they also showed her off with brand new Black Series, uh, packaging.

Ed (01:09:54 - 01:10:05): Yeah, because I did see that, like I saw the promo video where it’s like they’re, they’re changing the packaging for the Black Series. I think Black Series needed something to—

Ryan (01:10:05 - 01:10:09): yeah. it needs some excitement to the line. It needs something.

Ed (01:10:09 - 01:10:19): Yeah, because, yeah, like, besides the Mando stuff, I haven’t bought anything Black Series in a long time.

Ryan (01:10:19 - 01:10:39): So, and then, you know, for the price point of those figures and what you get in a package compared to the GI Joes for the same price, yeah, most of the Star Wars figures, like, you get a character and a weapon. Yeah, like you don’t even get multiple hands or heads or multiple weapons. It’s like it’s a gun or a lightsaber.

Ed (01:10:39 - 01:10:39): Yeah.

Ryan (01:10:39 - 01:11:01): Uh, don’t we already mention it before? Hasbro has the Nintendo license now with Link, Zelda, and, uh, Ganon is the guy’s name. Don’t know. Uh, Magic: The Gathering is doing a new Star Trek set of cards. They’ve just been doing all kinds of Magic: The Gathering licensed cards.

Ed (01:11:01 - 01:11:03): Oh, cards are big.

Ryan (01:11:03 - 01:11:36): Yep. Transformers— there was a bunch of like regular guys announced and stuff, but I just kind of picked out the ones that were the interest of us. There’s a Transformers Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine called Mystery Machine Prime and Auto-Mutt. So it’s the tape that turns into Scooby-Doo and then the Mystery Machine turns indoor robot, and it comes with, uh, optional heads for it so you can have it be any one of the Scooby gang. Yep. There’s a Jem and the Holograms blaster with tapes.

Ed (01:11:36 - 01:11:38): I saw that. That one looked pretty cool.

Ryan (01:11:38 - 01:12:07): And then, uh, if you’re a fan of the Energon Universe, like the new Transformer book, uh, one of the new Transformers that Daniel Warren Johnson introduced, uh, Thrasher, the one that is made from the kid’s, uh, van with the big paint job on the side. They announced a figure of that. It’s one of those ones I saw it, it’s like, I want— I kind of want that figure, but not for the robot mode. I want it for the band, for the van with the cool Daniel Warren Johnson like metal art painted on the side of it.

Ed (01:12:07 - 01:12:09): Yep.

Ryan (01:12:09 - 01:12:26): Uh, we got the Cell. They were there showing off some stuff. Uh, the only one I made note of— they have a whole bunch of things, a bunch of wave 2s of some of their previous stuff, like Uh, their Insector— uh, is it Insectors? Was that what the bug— the big guy, the bug guys, is that what they were called? The Sectors?

Ed (01:12:26 - 01:12:28): Sectors?

Ryan (01:12:28 - 01:13:10): Yeah, Sectors. So, so they showed off the mounts, so like the, the big bugs with the wings that they would ride on in the cartoon and stuff. Yep, those are coming out. But the thing I wrote down about, uh, in their Star Trek line, they’re doing a— at 6-inch scale build an Enterprise bridge. So it’s come— it’s modular. It comes in like, it’s like 12 pieces. It’s like 10 pieces that go together to make up the circle of the bridge. There’s a centerpiece with like the captain’s chair and the, uh, the 2 control comms for the, uh, for the pilot and stuff. And then I think there’s either the front screen or another piece. There’s like 12 pieces altogether.

Ed (01:13:10 - 01:13:11): Yep.

Ryan (01:13:11 - 01:13:51): So it’s like, and they’ll be sold separately, so you can buy as many or as few pieces as you want to build your setup. I think we mentioned this last month when I— because they had shown off the transporter, like the corner transporter from the bridge. So that’s how I think that one fits into this. It looks really cool. It’s big to have that whole big bridge. I think ideally, really, you just need to buy like half of it to have your television look because you don’t really see from the other direction. But it’s out there for Star Trek fans. Big Bad Workshop had a bunch of cool stuff.

Ed (01:13:51 - 01:13:55): Yeah, I saw some of the things that they—

Ryan (01:13:55 - 01:14:18): I know you’ll have some opinions on a few of these here. So they were showing off some of their NPC line of toys, the non-player character. So they had like a new camp counselor, uh, stay-at-home mom, exorcist priest, SWAT officer, some bank robbers. Uh, these were all done— they were all prototypes. They were all like in that prototype gray.

Ed (01:14:18 - 01:14:19): Yep.

Ryan (01:14:19 - 01:14:24): They had in-hand samples from the Larry Hama line that we discussed last month.

Ed (01:14:24 - 01:14:25): Yep.

Ryan (01:14:25 - 01:14:45): A whole bunch more of their Monster Force figures. Like, I didn’t know who any of them were or what they were, they were cool. They have, I guess, Big Bad— Big Bad Workshops is part of that, that their, uh, Long Box Heroes line, uh, where it’s like old school comics and stuff for licensing. They’ve got a Rocketeer line.

Ed (01:14:45 - 01:14:50): Yes, I did see images of that. So yeah, I’m gonna get the Rocketeer.

Ryan (01:14:50 - 01:14:55): The Rocketeer, Major Onslaught, Black Phantom, and Betty.

Ed (01:14:55 - 01:15:01): The other thing is, is whether the Fury Force or Monster Force.

Ryan (01:15:01 - 01:15:01): Yep.

Ed (01:15:01 - 01:15:04): Another one that they showed was News Reporter.

Ryan (01:15:04 - 01:15:06): Yes.

Ed (01:15:06 - 01:15:16): And it looks like Hector Ramirez from G.I. Joe. So I’m like, yeah, I’m pretty much— I’m probably gonna buy that one. Yeah, because I think it’d be funny to have him.

Ryan (01:15:16 - 01:15:29): It’s like, I saw the— I saw people making the reference to the name and I was like, it’s familiar, but I don’t know, like, they didn’t— I didn’t But as soon as you said it’s from G.I. Joe, it’s like, oh, he was also the reporter that shows up in Transformers too.

Ed (01:15:29 - 01:15:33): Yes, Hector Ramirez. Yeah, it’s like from 20 Questions.

Ryan (01:15:34 - 01:15:45): Yeah. Uh, there’s a new Tarzan and Jane figures. There was some more stuff from The Tick that’s tempting Brent because he likes his Tick stuff.

Ed (01:15:45 - 01:15:50): Yeah, I saw the Tick stuff yesterday. Like, the articulation looks good on them.

Ryan (01:15:50 - 01:16:08): They’re showing off a radioactive Tick, a vacation Tick. Uh, there was Barry Hubris, uh, there was Multiple Santa. All this stuff is lost on me because I never watched The Tick. Yeah, but last but not least, I left this one here. I just kept teasing. I just waited, waited, and waited for you. There were more Cops and Crooks figures coming.

Ed (01:16:09 - 01:16:12): Thank googly moogly.

Ryan (01:16:12 - 01:16:14): Uh, they showed off Dr. Bad Vibes.

Ed (01:16:14 - 01:16:15): Yep.

Ryan (01:16:15 - 01:16:16): Buzz Bomb.

Ed (01:16:16 - 01:16:16): Yep.

Ryan (01:16:16 - 01:16:18): And Long Arm.

Ed (01:16:19 - 01:16:23): I, I have no problem with any of those choices.

Ryan (01:16:23 - 01:16:24): Yeah.

Ed (01:16:24 - 01:16:37): Um, if there’s anything I would say, like, if you weren’t gonna do Dr. Bad Vibes, then like give Berserko or Big Boy or, you know.

Ryan (01:16:37 - 01:16:49): Yeah, so I have plenty of people they can— they have to do this. Like, it’s one of those, like, since it’s a big bad where it’s just like kind of like, yeah, you do 3 for the year, that’s fine. And 3 more the next year, they’re just slow build.

Ed (01:16:49 - 01:17:01): Yeah, like they could, for over a while, like you could get all your core characters. Like, you know, I— am I gonna stand on my soapbox again about C.O.P.S.?

Ryan (01:17:01 - 01:17:12): Yeah, no, we all know that. Yeah, I can’t think— I, I don’t know how Hasbro hasn’t done this themselves, but now they’ve licensed it off to Big Bad and they’re doing it and they’re knocking it out of the park.

Ed (01:17:12 - 01:17:27): Yeah, well, that first— that Bulletproof figure, yep, is unbelievable. It is amazing. It is a— well, I’m pretty sure I have it on my own. Let’s see here. It’s here.

Ryan (01:17:27 - 01:17:28): Yeah, it’s on your future.

Ed (01:17:28 - 01:17:39): Um, yep, here’s a spoiler. Or is it a spoiler, or is this a prediction?

Ryan (01:17:39 - 01:17:41): It’s a prediction, uh, could change.

Ed (01:17:41 - 01:17:44): It’s number 1 on my list for top toy of the year.

Ryan (01:17:44 - 01:17:44): Nice.

Ed (01:17:44 - 01:17:52): Like, it is by far. Like, if you didn’t pre-order it, sucks to suck.

Ryan (01:17:52 - 01:18:15): I’m sorry. Uh, we don’t usually talk about Mondo much other than, you know, the real Ghostbusters that they came out with that were really awesome and real expensive, but They showed off some cool stuff. Uh, they have a new line of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures. Uh, they had all— they were showing off all 4 turtles and Shredder. They had a DC animated Batman and Robin.

Ed (01:18:15 - 01:18:17): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:18:17 - 01:18:31): They had Marvel animated figures, so based on like X-Men ‘92, they had a Jean Grey. Uh, there was a Deadpool lying in a bed holding a picture frame, like staring at a photo of Logan.

Ed (01:18:31 - 01:18:32): Yep.

SDCC 2026: Mattel, Masters, and Wrestling

Ryan (01:18:32 - 01:19:08): So like that Wolverine figure they did last year. Uh, then there’s some Spider-Man animated figures, and they had the Lizard and Spider-Man. They continued their Masters of the Universe 2000X line, showing off a fire armor Skeletor, an ice armor He-Man, and a Cobra Khan. And then to continue there, the Real Ghostbusters scale, 1:12 scale line, they showed off a cartoon-accurate size and design of Ecto-1. It is huge.

Ed (01:19:08 - 01:19:12): Well, didn’t they— okay, sorry, continue.

Ryan (01:19:12 - 01:19:29): Uh, it’s huge, it looks awesome, it comes with some cool accessories with— so it’s got a swap-out front end that’s got, uh, like tentacles coming out of it. Like either, uh, I don’t know if it’s from one of the specific episode-specific, uh, things when the Ecto-1 gets haunted.

Ed (01:19:29 - 01:19:30): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:19:30 - 01:20:01): Then they also had a couple different slimers, one of them where it’s set up where he’s got his hands holding on to the lights on the top as if he’s, you know, the car’s speeding away and he’s trying to hold on for dear life. Then they also showed off an Ecto-3. which was like a little, like, unicycle with a sidecar. I couldn’t tell from the post if it’s going to be a release on its own or if it’s in conjunction with Ecto-1. I feel like it is on its own, but, uh, you had something you wanted to add.

Ed (01:20:01 - 01:20:13): Um, was it part of the release or was it another time where they showed The People Busters.

Ryan (01:20:13 - 01:20:21): I think they showed those off. I, I think I read something about those after I’d already finished my notes. Okay, before I came up.

Ed (01:20:21 - 01:20:23): But yes, because I did see the People Busters.

Ryan (01:20:24 - 01:20:29): Yeah, because for their San Diego exclusive was the, uh, the haunted costumes.

Ed (01:20:31 - 01:20:31): Yep.

Ryan (01:20:32 - 01:20:44): But yeah, I think I, I heard like it was in one of the like recap videos, somebody said something about you know, the, the, yeah, the People Busters. And I was like, I didn’t see that online, but okay, that’s awesome.

Ed (01:20:44 - 01:20:57): Yeah, because I like, I always thought that, uh, um, the Egon, Egon Haunted looked kind of cool. Yeah, because it was like the skeleton with the big pompadour.

Ryan (01:21:01 - 01:21:20): Uh, NECA, we had some interesting, uh, DC Comics stuff. So continuing their 8-inch scaled clothed toy line, they showed off a comic book Superman, a 1978 movie Superman, a 1966 TV show Batman.

Ed (01:21:20 - 01:21:21): Yep.

Ryan (01:21:21 - 01:21:45): And a comic book Green Lantern. Uh, they also had an I Know What You Did Last Summer Ultimate Fisherman. And then they announced that their license for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is coming to an end. That’s part of the whole, I guess, of Mattel getting the master license.

Ed (01:21:45 - 01:21:45): Yep.

Ryan (01:21:45 - 01:21:54): So they only showed one new figure, and it was a, uh, Tempestra from the old school cartoon.

Ed (01:21:56 - 01:22:01): Well, we discussed it, like what was going to happen when the Turtles license is gone.

Ryan (01:22:01 - 01:22:19): So we were wondering if NECA was going to continue or not, and it sounds like they— for the time being, like for now, this is the end of Turtles with NECA. Which, you know, it’s of course okay, that’s done. License changed hands, they’ve lost, you know, it’s their time is up. Yep. Doesn’t mean that they can’t re-license it again some other time.

Ed (01:22:19 - 01:22:33): Well, and also too, like with everything going to Mattel You know, like, is Mattel going to go like same thing with— we talked about DC. Are they going to give the kids line and are they going to give the—

Ryan (01:22:33 - 01:22:34): like they do with wrestling—

Ed (01:22:34 - 01:22:35): collector’s line?

Ryan (01:22:36 - 01:23:01): So doing that with the wrestling figures works for them. Yeah, here’s your entry-level line, here’s your high-end collector line, and then here’s your kind of line in between. Yep. So Uh, and then this one actually you had posted before I’d seen it. There is a, the, a KISS, uh, Dressed to Kill album cover. Yep, 4-pack. Excuse me.

Ed (01:23:01 - 01:23:32): Yeah, so it’d be interesting to see what more they get from KISS. Um, like, I’m not gonna get the Dressed to Kill. No, it’s because it’s just them in like suits and like tuxes or something, but like if they come out with a Destroyer or Love Gun or, or whatever, bigger costumes. Yeah, like then I’ll— because I— the only KISS I have right now is I have the McFarlane, um, the old school one.

Ryan (01:23:32 - 01:23:35): Yeah, the old school, you know, those stat—

Ed (01:23:35 - 01:23:42): you know, they were figures, but they, you know, they were statue figures, but Um, and then I have all the Best Action ones.

Ryan (01:23:43 - 01:23:43): Yep.

Ed (01:23:44 - 01:23:58): Uh, because I have Destroyer and I have the solo albums. But yeah, if we can get like a really good NECA Destroyer— yeah, I’d say Destroyer. If they can give Destroyer gear as NECA, I’d probably buy it.

Ryan (01:24:01 - 01:24:08): So, uh, Jada had some cool announcements. They showed off, uh, wave 3 of the Scooby-Doo line.

Ed (01:24:08 - 01:24:09): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:24:09 - 01:24:24): So that’s gonna be— oh, so that’s Daphne, which we’d already seen, heard, knew about, but they had them in hand, and, and a couple of the ghosts or the people. But the bigger new announcement was wave 4, which is Fred. They had him in hand along with the zombie and the Headless Horseman.

Ed (01:24:24 - 01:24:25): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:24:25 - 01:24:45): It’ll be nice when that wave starts showing up places because it’s like, they look really great. I kind of want at the very least to get Shaggy and Scooby and maybe one of the monsters. But I think those ones will very much end up being like, either you see them in the States for me, or I find them at like Fan Expo next year.

Ed (01:24:45 - 01:24:47): I haven’t even seen them in the States.

Ryan (01:24:47 - 01:25:03): Well, I was gonna say, I don’t know if they’ve actually— I think the pre-orders for Shaggy and Scooby, maybe Scooby, have like have started. I know Shaggy for sure. I don’t know how many of them have actually started hitting stores or being released. The Shaggy, the wave 1 may have been released.

Ed (01:25:03 - 01:25:28): Now I’m just going on Big Bad Toy Store right now, and a whole bunch— the first thing, the Sesame Street Oscar, yeah, action figure is up for pre-order. Same with Big Bird, um, Scooby, because I know, um, yeah, so Shaggy, Creeper, Mummy, they are available.

Ryan (01:25:28 - 01:25:30): Yeah, that was wave 1.

Ed (01:25:30 - 01:25:35): Yeah, and then like Space Kook and Scooby are available.

Ryan (01:25:36 - 01:25:39): So, so Scooby’s available in stores now?

Ed (01:25:39 - 01:25:40): To pre-order.

Ryan (01:25:40 - 01:26:09): Oh, to pre-order. Okay, yeah, that’s what I thought. So yeah, we’ll see. Uh, they continued their cereal mascots line and their way of skirting around licensing. And they are— they showed off a, uh, a Dino from The Flintstones for the Fruity Pebbles. So now if you got, uh, Fred and Barney, you can add a Dino to it. They showed off waves 2 and 3 of their Invincible toy line.

Ed (01:26:09 - 01:26:10): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:26:10 - 01:26:37): So wave 2 is Omni-Man, Atom Eve, and Battle Beast. Wave 3 will be an unmasked Invincible in the, like, yellow and blue costume, because we’ve gotten a blue and black costume in Wave 1. They then also showed off Allen the Alien and Emperor Thragg. So that’ll be awesome. And then one— I was surprised when I saw they had a really cool looking Astro Boy.

Ed (01:26:37 - 01:26:40): Hmm, yeah.

Ryan (01:26:40 - 01:26:53): I thought that was one of those classic cartoons from when we were growing up that was like always on Global on a Saturday afternoon. It’s like, and it’s like, it’s one and done. You buy Astro Boy, it’s like, cool, that’s awesome, that’s Astro Boy, awesome.

Ed (01:26:55 - 01:26:56): Hmm, damn it.

Ryan (01:26:56 - 01:27:21): Yeah, you can hang it on the shelf with Mega Man, little robot boys. Okay, here we go. Now, because you’ve been buying so many wrestling figures. I actually went through— I didn’t put down all the wrestling figures they announced because most of them we don’t care about, but I, I picked and chose, and I think these are the ones you were— you may be of interest to us.

Ed (01:27:21 - 01:27:21): Yep.

Ryan (01:27:21 - 01:27:29): So this is Mattel now. So they’re continuing with their LJN line. They were showing off a Hart Foundation 2-pack.

Ed (01:27:29 - 01:27:31): I did see that.

Ryan (01:27:31 - 01:27:33): Uh, and they also announced a British Bulldog.

Ed (01:27:34 - 01:27:35): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:27:36 - 01:27:43): Uh, those are the ones I wrote down because I think there’s some other guys too, but I was like, oh, there’s one that’s going to be hard to find. Oh, which one’s that?

Ed (01:27:43 - 01:27:45): Cyndi Lauper.

Ryan (01:27:45 - 01:27:52): See, I saw that, and the way you reacted to her being in the Piper’s other Piper Pitt set, I figured, oh, okay, well, you won’t care about—

Ed (01:27:52 - 01:27:58): No, see, and I will get a— I would get a Cyndi Lauper LJN. I don’t want a Cyndi Lauper.

Ryan (01:27:58 - 01:27:58): Okay.

Ed (01:27:58 - 01:28:04): I don’t want a Cyndi Lauper because I don’t want Lou Albano. Okay, you know, like, so I want a Piper.

Ryan (01:28:04 - 01:28:05): Yeah.

Ed (01:28:05 - 01:28:16): And like, the Cyndi Lauper looks pretty good. I don’t want a Lou Albano. Like, same thing, it’s like $100. Oh yeah, versus $30, like $35 for an LJN.

Ryan (01:28:16 - 01:28:18): So, and it’s—

Ed (01:28:18 - 01:28:29): she’s got the red dress on, so it’s the— from the COVID of She’s So Unusual. Okay, so it’s kind of like, yeah, that’s No, that’s, that’s scratching that itch.

Ryan (01:28:29 - 01:28:30): That’s hitting all the right spots for you.

Ed (01:28:30 - 01:29:01): It’s an interesting pop culture crossover, the fact that Cyndi Lauper is now getting 2 action figures with WWE. Um, because the, like, the, the, the 3-pack, the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive 3-pack, the outfit she’s wearing is, is from the ring when, when her appearance in— yeah, like when WWE Roddy smashed the, the, the gold record over, over, uh, Albano’s head.

Ryan (01:29:01 - 01:29:01): Okay.

Ed (01:29:01 - 01:29:27): The— yeah, the LJN. It’s like, no, it’s a completely different— like, it’s basically her from the— like, she’s doing the dance she’s doing on the album cover for She’s So Unusual. So it’s like, yeah, that, that’s pretty— like, if you’re just a music fan, yeah. that’s a pretty cool collectible. So I’m— I was excited for that one. Um, what else was in the LJN? There was an—

Ryan (01:29:27 - 01:29:35): there were some more, some more classic wrestler guys, but I was like, um, I know there’s a—

Ed (01:29:35 - 01:29:37): oh, CM Punk’s getting an LJN.

Ryan (01:29:37 - 01:29:59): Big Rubber Guys, even though it’s not the same thing but not Mattel, they announced, uh, a new Cactus Jack and they showed off, uh, prototype-like renderings, still waiting for license or approval, of a Kool-Aid Man. Hmm. Well, I was like, ah, damn it, I might need to get a Kool-Aid Man rubber guy.

Ed (01:29:59 - 01:30:10): Well, and I was listening to, um, Pro Wrestling 24/7 on Sirius, and Tuesdays Matt Cardona’s on.

Ryan (01:30:11 - 01:30:11): Okay.

Ed (01:30:11 - 01:30:13): For the Broski Breakdown.

Ryan (01:30:13 - 01:30:14): Okay.

Ed (01:30:14 - 01:30:16): And he was actually talking about it.

Ryan (01:30:16 - 01:30:16): Yeah.

Ed (01:30:16 - 01:30:30): And he was saying that with the— he said there’s some guys, they sign up, they’re like, whatever, just pay me, I don’t care. They said Mick Foley was fully involved on all aspects of coming out with—

Ryan (01:30:30 - 01:30:30): That’s cool.

Ed (01:30:30 - 01:30:31): That his big rubber guy.

Ryan (01:30:32 - 01:30:32): Yep.

Ed (01:30:32 - 01:30:36): He’s like, same with the packaging design and everything. So he was very hands-on.

Ryan (01:30:39 - 01:30:44): Nice. Uh, there’s a new Showdown 2-pack of Zack Ryder, uh, and Chelsea Green.

Ed (01:30:44 - 01:30:51): Yes. And also, like, listening to it on Tuesday because he’s like, yeah, I fly to San Diego tomorrow.

Ryan (01:30:52 - 01:30:52): Yeah.

Ed (01:30:52 - 01:30:58): And he’s like, I don’t know, I’m gonna go to the Mattel panel, maybe I’ll find out if me and Chelsea are getting an action figure. That’d be great if we did.

Ryan (01:30:59 - 01:31:00): So it’s like, wink nudge.

Ed (01:31:00 - 01:31:01): Yeah.

Ryan (01:31:02 - 01:31:21): Uh, from their Ultimate Edition line, they had a bunch of cool announcements. There’s, uh, a ringside exclusive Danhausen. There was a Cody and John Cena Amazon exclusive. Uh, CM Punk, AJ Lee with Larry 3-pack.

Ed (01:31:21 - 01:31:28): That, that one looks cool. The packaging looks cool, and the AJ, the sculpt on the AJ, that looks good.

Ryan (01:31:29 - 01:31:35): There’s a Mattel Creations Penta coming out. Mm-hmm. That looked really nice.

Ed (01:31:35 - 01:31:38): And Penta in the packaging looks like he’s doing the dance.

Ryan (01:31:38 - 01:31:42): Yeah. Uh, a Liv Morgan and Chucky 2-pack.

Ed (01:31:42 - 01:31:44): That one looks awesome.

Ryan (01:31:44 - 01:31:45): It’s a ringside exclusive.

Ed (01:31:46 - 01:31:48): Uh, mother—

Ryan (01:31:48 - 01:31:51): Yeah, but you can ship that to you, to your office in the States.

Ed (01:31:51 - 01:31:53): And I can also ship it home too.

Ryan (01:31:54 - 01:31:56): Is the shipping to Canada from Ringside tends to be expensive?

Ed (01:31:56 - 01:31:59): It wasn’t too bad on my Road Warriors.

Ryan (01:31:59 - 01:31:59): Okay.

Ed (01:31:59 - 01:32:04): Like, that was $100 all in for the figures and shipping and taxes.

Ryan (01:32:04 - 01:32:06): That’s not bad. Canadian or American?

Ed (01:32:06 - 01:32:06): Canadian.

Ryan (01:32:06 - 01:32:09): Yes. Yeah, that’s, that’s awesome. That’s— yeah.

Ed (01:32:09 - 01:32:17): So because I have the NECA Chucky, first off, I think it’s very interesting they’ve got the license to Chucky.

Ryan (01:32:17 - 01:32:20): Well, she appeared in the show, didn’t she?

Ed (01:32:20 - 01:32:25): Yes, she did, because like the whole pack is from when she shows up in the show and Chucky kills her.

Ryan (01:32:25 - 01:32:25): Yeah.

Ed (01:32:26 - 01:32:35): Um, and she has like, like his like regular Liv and it’s like bloody Liv. And yeah, but the sculpt on the Chucky looks really good. Like it looks like—

Ryan (01:32:35 - 01:32:44): And it’s a different size than the NECA one, I think, though, because it’s— they’re different scale. So that’s probably how they can get away around the licensing and stuff.

Ed (01:32:45 - 01:32:52): But, uh, and also the packaging looks like Good Guy doll packaging. Like, it’s, it’s—

Ryan (01:32:52 - 01:32:53): yeah, they’re doing a good job with it.

Ed (01:32:53 - 01:32:54): Yeah, it’s cool.

Ryan (01:32:54 - 01:33:03): Uh, so they’ve announced that they’ve signed a, a deal with AAA. Yeah, the Mexican wrestling, which now WWE owns. So it’s like, yeah, that was obviously—

Ed (01:33:03 - 01:33:04): yeah, Mr. Iguana’s getting—

Ryan (01:33:04 - 01:33:08): there’s a Mr. Iguana, a La Parka, and it’s—

Ed (01:33:08 - 01:33:10): and a Sneeza.

Ryan (01:33:10 - 01:33:13): And a Sneeza, sorry. And a Psycho Clown.

Ed (01:33:13 - 01:33:17): And a La Parka. And a Grande Americano.

Ryan (01:33:18 - 01:33:21): Uh, yeah, I didn’t see him in that one because he’s already got figures.

Ed (01:33:21 - 01:33:22): No, it’s a green version.

Ryan (01:33:22 - 01:33:26): It’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s AAA version of—

Ed (01:33:26 - 01:33:34): okay, yeah, it’s, it’s Ludwig Kaiser. Yeah, yeah, because they’ve come out with OG Grande Americano. Um, but this is—

Ryan (01:33:34 - 01:33:40): I thought the one— because I assumed the one that— I thought the one that I saw at Walmart right now was Ludwig, but it’s not.

Ed (01:33:41 - 01:33:42): No, that’s Chad Gable.

Ryan (01:33:43 - 01:34:02): Didn’t look that closely at it, I guess. Uh, and then, yeah, so I guess I missed it on here. Uh, Danhausen has like 4 different figures coming out. There’s a 2-pack with him and one of his, uh, Ghoulhausens, which is his wife. There’s one where it’s him as, uh, as, as Cold Steve, Cold Steve Austin.

Ed (01:34:02 - 01:34:03): Yep.

Ryan (01:34:03 - 01:34:27): Uh, which is funny because they said he’s also coming out in the, uh, Monday Night Wars packaging. Uh, and then yeah, there was another of those. There was— because yeah, there’s— I’m not sure if it was the Ultimate one that’s an exclusive or not, but there’s like Danhausen in his like jacket you see when he’s like doing his experiments, like that outfit. And then there’s one in him more of like his ring gear.

Ed (01:34:27 - 01:34:40): Well, and just aside of that, WWE Vault— or sorry, WWE Shop announced that they have all the Danhausen stuff now. So you can get Danhausen mask, you can get the jar of teeth.

Ryan (01:34:41 - 01:34:43): So, uh, you can get Danhausen t-shirts at Hot Topic.

Ed (01:34:44 - 01:34:45): Yeah, they’re all in for our human monies.

Ryan (01:34:46 - 01:34:48): Yep. He tried to buy the—

Ed (01:34:48 - 01:34:50): oh, and they actually have human monies you can buy.

Ryan (01:34:50 - 01:34:53): Of course, spend your human monies to buy human monies.

Ed (01:34:53 - 01:34:55): Danhausen human monies.

Ryan (01:34:56 - 01:35:09): He tried to use, uh, 300 human monies on there at the Mattel panel to buy the world title off of CM Punk. And Punk said, oh, that’s, uh, you know, that was a good payday on the indies back in, uh, 2009. Or—

Ed (01:35:09 - 01:35:10): Yeah.

Ryan (01:35:10 - 01:35:28): Then, uh, Danhausen made a joke about being paid $16 one time on the indies. Uh, MotU figures, lots of MotU stuff. So they’ve come out and said the Origins is getting a bit of a reset.

Ed (01:35:29 - 01:35:29): Yep.

Ryan (01:35:30 - 01:35:33): So new packaging, some of them with a Build-A-Figure in it.

Ed (01:35:34 - 01:35:34): Yep.

Ryan (01:35:34 - 01:35:43): Uh, they’re going back, we’re going to be doing some re-releases of old figures, you know, getting for the people that missed out on them. But then there’s also gonna be new ones, and there’s a whole bunch of them.

Ed (01:35:43 - 01:35:53): Yeah, the packaging still like it, it’s an update, but it still sort of looks like the exploding rocks. So yeah, like still looks close enough to classic.

Ryan (01:35:53 - 01:36:23): Some of the ones that they showed off, like one of the ones, new ones that stood out, there’s like a Faker Teela. Because like their thought was like, well, you know, it’s adding to the story. Like, well, if, you know, Skeletor can make a faker He-Man, like, why wouldn’t he make a faker Teela? Uh, they showed off Chronicles. They were showing off— I guess there should be like 3— the next like 3 waves. Each wave has got like 3 figures, and they’re gonna be splitting it up between, uh, 1 movie character and 2 new Chronicles figures.

Ed (01:36:23 - 01:36:27): Yeah. Well, like, that King Grayskull is awesome.

Ryan (01:36:27 - 01:36:30): See, I didn’t even see that one in the list of the ones they announced.

Ed (01:36:30 - 01:36:31): Oh, I have it downstairs.

Ryan (01:36:31 - 01:36:32): Oh, it’s okay. So yeah, that’s why.

Ed (01:36:32 - 01:36:33): Mattel Creations.

Ryan (01:36:33 - 01:36:49): Yeah, so some of the new designs— so they showed off, uh, a Goatman, a new Fisto, a single release, and the Mecha Neck. Mecha Neck looks great. He’s got a bendy neck, or you can swap it out and put like a regular neck.

Ed (01:36:49 - 01:36:49): Yep.

Ryan (01:36:51 - 01:37:15): Uh, then there’s going to be a Spikeor from the movie. And then from their new character designs that are in that kind of vein, there’s a new Clawful, there’s a, a merman that the guy described it as how he would look maybe before he became a henchman of Skeletor. Yeah, they showed off—

Ed (01:37:15 - 01:37:18): they’ve, they’ve also done that too in the in—

Ryan (01:37:18 - 01:37:27): there’s multiple Bar Mans. Well, exactly right. That’s— it’s not new for them to change people up a little bit. They showed off a Panthor that apparently is out right now. It’s a Target exclusive.

Ed (01:37:27 - 01:37:33): Yeah, and it was like movie packaging. Yeah, because it was like, okay, was he there?

Ryan (01:37:33 - 01:37:41): And then, uh, a new movie Skysled that looks really awesome.

Ed (01:37:41 - 01:37:41): Yep.

Ryan (01:37:41 - 01:37:56): And then So the Sky Sled doesn’t come with a pilot, but they’re putting out a He-Man that has armor that would— that matches, that goes with, and it’s called, um, Flight Armor He-Man.

Ed (01:37:56 - 01:37:58): Yeah, I’d buy the Sky Sled.

Ryan (01:37:58 - 01:38:00): It looks really cool.

Ed (01:38:00 - 01:38:06): Well, because all the other vehicles— all like the other vehicles that came out were all the bad guy vehicles.

Ryan (01:38:06 - 01:38:27): Yeah. So, uh, there’s also a new armored Teela. Kind of, it’s like, it’s there, like, you know, it’s like, what if, you know, she’s following in her father Man-at-Arms’ footsteps? And like, so it’s like she’s got one leg that, you know, the left side has armored up while the right side isn’t. So it’s kind of just like how Man-at-Arms has the bigger armor on the left.

Ed (01:38:27 - 01:38:27): Yeah.

Ryan (01:38:27 - 01:38:49): It’s all lead with the armor, attack with the other side. Uh, they showed digital reveals of a movie Sorceress and a Beast Man. Uh, they teased that they are going to be doing a re-release of the Snake Mountain playset. They showed a new black and white, like, sketch of the packaging art.

Ed (01:38:49 - 01:38:55): Uh, is it going to be Origins size, like Origins scale?

Ryan (01:38:55 - 01:38:58): I am assuming, because they said re-release, so it’ll be the same.

Ed (01:38:58 - 01:39:03): Because the last one— because I didn’t even know it was coming out, and by the time I found out it was already sold out.

Ryan (01:39:03 - 01:39:06): Yeah, and, and not their giant Mattel creations.

Ed (01:39:06 - 01:39:10): Yeah, and I— they have space made for—

Ryan (01:39:11 - 01:39:54): yeah, so Mountain, it’s coming again. Uh, and then we were wondering if we would finally get a look at their DC collector’s line. They just— they didn’t show anything off other than they said there’s going to be a tease sneak peek at New York Comic-Con. with a full line release on January 1st, 2027 on mattelcreations.com. Which makes me, you know, that makes me think, okay, cool. It’s, I guess, as part of the whole what’s left of McFarlane’s deal and then their deal starting, is that maybe they can’t— it’s like they can start showing stuff in New York. Also, they just might not have anything ready to show yet since they just signed that deal.

Ed (01:39:54 - 01:39:57): I’ve seen some teaser stuff of their—

Ryan (01:39:57 - 01:40:01): Not official. I’ve seen— I’ve seen of the collector line.

Ed (01:40:01 - 01:40:02): Okay, I’ve seen stuff.

Ryan (01:40:02 - 01:40:10): Okay, well, there’s all kinds of leaked stuff online, but this is what they showed. They had like a whole thing, you know, comic book style, like word bubbles and stuff.

Ed (01:40:10 - 01:40:21): So yeah, it’s also be confusing too. Oh yeah, oh yeah, we’re gonna have a McFarlane— we’re gonna have a panel about DC stuff coming, and then, oh yeah, Mattel, we got DC stuff coming.

SDCC 2026: McFarlane and Other Collectibles

Ryan (01:40:21 - 01:41:27): Yeah, no. And speaking of Todd, now we’ve reached McFarlane. Thanks for sticking around for this marathon episode, everybody, but you know it was coming. It’s always like this at San Diego. San Diego and Toy Fair. Uh, so from the DC Universe stuff, they showed off, uh, a wave of Green Lantern Corps figures. 4 different figures. Um, there was Sinestro and then 3 other like aliens that I couldn’t read the picture, I couldn’t read the names, and their names I couldn’t pronounce anyway. The one guy that— some of them looked like we’ve already gotten them from DC Direct. Like, it was like the carrot head guy and the, the blue-headed guy. Yeah. So they have some Batman: Hush figures coming. There’s a Harley Quinn, uh, a Catwoman. There’s a— and then, uh, from Hush, those ones both from Batman: Hush. There’s a Silver Age Robin, a Plastic Man, An unmasked Ben Affleck Justice League Batman, a Mera, a Wonder Girl, a Black Manta, and a Raven. These are all coming out in fall of this year.

Ed (01:41:27 - 01:41:29): Are we gonna— sorry, the Mera, is she—

Ryan (01:41:29 - 01:41:55): Not a movie Mera. Oh, comic book Mera. Uh, some— the, the next round of Page Punchers. So there’s one showing up from Nightwing issue number 1, and it’s Nightwing, and then the red platinum is Tim Drake Robin. And then the other page puncher is from Batman #1, and it’s Batman, and then the red platinum is a Dick Grayson Robin.

Ed (01:41:55 - 01:41:56): Hmm.

Ryan (01:41:56 - 01:42:26): Their Deluxe Theatrical line, we’re getting a The Batman Batman, a Batman Returns battle-damaged Catwoman, so like torn cowl, hair sticking out, torn out. Yep. Uh, a Dark Knight Commissioner Gordon and a Batman and Robin Mr. Freeze. Yes, I did see that on the Build-A-Figure.

Ed (01:42:26 - 01:42:28): And there’s also a Poison Ivy coming out as well.

Ryan (01:42:28 - 01:42:30): Okay, didn’t see her in the listing.

Ed (01:42:30 - 01:42:44): So it’s like a new, a new version. It said single, single release Poison Ivy, Azuma Thurman version, so Okay. I thought it was confusing because it looks like the exact same figure that already come out in the Build-A-Figure.

Ryan (01:42:44 - 01:42:52): I wonder if it’s a slightly different paint job, if she changed her costume a little bit, or they changed— you know, it could just be a re-release without the Build-A-Figure piece.

Ed (01:42:52 - 01:42:56): But it’s neat that people can get the—

Ryan (01:42:56 - 01:42:56): yeah, Mr.

Ed (01:42:56 - 01:42:57): Freeze.

Ryan (01:42:57 - 01:43:02): I’m tempted to get that Mr. Freeze now because I missed out on him. I didn’t buy enough to get the Build-A-Figure.

Ed (01:43:02 - 01:43:04): Oh yeah, no, the Mr. Freeze is a good figure.

Ryan (01:43:05 - 01:43:33): Because I didn’t get Uma and I didn’t get the other people from that wave. I just got Batman and Robin, I think. Yeah. Uh, yep. Oh, this one was exciting for me. I know you’re gonna want it too. Uh, a new— a mega figure, so one of the bigger ones. Doomsday. Mm-hmm. Yep, you need it. Need it for your Death of Superman, right into the Superman shelf. No.

Ed (01:43:34 - 01:43:38): Yeah, but I didn’t see the— I didn’t look at it real close. Does it look like the comic book version?

Ryan (01:43:38 - 01:43:40): It’s a pretty good Doomsday.

Ed (01:43:41 - 01:43:41): Hmm.

Ryan (01:43:42 - 01:43:58): Uh, I— now it’s probably— I think they did one where it was the, uh, Kryptonite Doomsday. It’s probably just a repaint or a repaint and slight retool of that figure. Okay, but It’s a pretty— the rendering looked— it was a pretty good-looking Doomsday.

Ed (01:43:58 - 01:44:09): Okay, well, I do have the Doomsday from just— or Batman v Superman. Yeah, I’ve got the Doomsday.

Ryan (01:44:09 - 01:44:28): That’s not Doomsday. Yeah, I know, I know it’s labeled as Doomsday, but it’s not Doomsday. Uh, okay, so since we’re talking about all those Lanterns, they decided to do a, uh, there’s a Red— oh no, I just closed my list— a Red Lantern 2-pack.

Ed (01:44:28 - 01:44:30): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:44:30 - 01:44:47): We’re gonna find my— there we go— with Atrocitus, uh, the cat, and another— they just labeled it as Red Lantern, and they showed it. It was kind of human looking, but then off on the side they also had like another like piece where it showed like an alien head. So I don’t know if it comes with like an interchangeable head.

Ed (01:44:50 - 01:44:50): Yep.

Ryan (01:44:50 - 01:45:16): Then they showed off in the last little bit of, uh, of DC figures, pending license or approval, also be exclusive to Walmart, an Absolute Batman. So, uh, sucks that that one’s gonna be a Walmart exclusive because it’s, you know, it’s— that’s, that’s the hot property right now in DC Comics is Absolute Batman. It’s gonna be highly sought after.

Ed (01:45:16 - 01:45:18): Yeah, maybe there’ll be a whole bunch.

Ryan (01:45:18 - 01:45:29): Maybe. Uh, I think I mentioned before there’s a new Helldiver figure. Uh, they did a large-scale version of that Optimus Prime head you picked up for me.

Ed (01:45:30 - 01:45:30): Yep.

Ryan (01:45:31 - 01:45:46): Uh, one that’s like— I guess it’s not full size because it’s not a giant robot-sized head, but it’s bigger than a— it’s like bigger than big helmet size. Uh, but it’s like their Batmans where it’s like it’s on a display stand, so it’s not a helmet where you could actually wear it, it’s just, uh, sit on a shelf.

Ed (01:45:46 - 01:45:48): Yeah.

Ryan (01:45:48 - 01:46:20): Uh, they have an Elite Edition, uh, Geiger from Ghost Machine. Uh, it’s one of the autographed series ones. Then there’s also an Elite Edition Witchblade coming. Then they showed off their new sports lines, like the 6-inch articulated ones. Uh, from Major League Baseball. They showed off an Aaron Judge, a Bryce Harper, uh, some other people I don’t know, Shohei Ohtani, and for some reason the Target exclusive Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Ed (01:46:20 - 01:46:20): Mm-hmm.

Ryan (01:46:20 - 01:46:35): Those ones apparently are in stores now, uh, and because I could say yes because I saw them in a toy hunt video out of Pennsylvania on Friday. The guy recorded the video on like Wednesday or Thursday because he was talking about early San Diego stuff.

Ed (01:46:36 - 01:46:41): So, well, I’ll be, I’ll be in the States on Thursday, so I shall look.

Ryan (01:46:41 - 01:47:14): If you happen to see a Vladimir Guerrero or 2, please. Okay, and thank you. Uh, there’s also some more NBA ones. There was LeBron James in the Lakers uniform, a Steph Curry, uh, in a, uh, uh, shoot, whatever, in a Golden State Warriors uniform. And then there were some new NFL players that I was like, I have no idea who any of these guys are because I don’t follow NFL. Yeah, surprised there wasn’t more hockey announcements because they did that hockey wave of articulated figures, so you can get like an Auston Matthews and stuff.

Ed (01:47:14 - 01:47:18): Yeah, I’ve seen those in store. I was at EB and I saw that they had—

Ryan (01:47:18 - 01:47:56): Attempted to get them to try it, you know, for science, but it’d have to— maybe if it was, uh, if they did a Hall of Famer line and you could get like an articulated Gretzky. then that would, that would be tempting enough for me to get it. Uh, oh, and we’re almost at the end of my list. Uh, there was some interesting stuff out of Factory Entertainment, um, and I think it’s in conjunction with Ramen Toys. So they had a— I guess they have a new 1:18 scale, so like a small scale. That’s like Joe size, 1:18, like old school Joes. 1:12 scale is 6 inches.

Ed (01:47:56 - 01:47:56): Oh yeah.

Ryan (01:47:56 - 01:48:15): So I think 1:18 is 3/4 line called Replay, and it’s gonna have characters from properties such as Knight Rider, Magnum P.I., Miami Vice, the Bionic Woman— they called it the Bionic Man, but that’s the Six Million Dollar Man.

Ed (01:48:15 - 01:48:17): Yeah.

Ryan (01:48:17 - 01:48:27): Airwolf. And Airwolf will have his helicopter, so that’s the helicopter we saw— that I saw, that I sent you pictures of was for that scale, not 6-inch scale.

Ed (01:48:27 - 01:48:27): Gotcha.

Ryan (01:48:27 - 01:48:47): Uh, they were also showing off a whole bunch of Battlestar Galactica figures from that, that line they’ve got with, uh, even like a Cylon Raider where like 3 Cylons can fit in it and stuff. And so I thought that was cool. And, uh, that was it for me for San Diego news.

Closing and Socials

Ed (01:48:47 - 01:48:59): Oh well, I can’t think of anything else that popped up in San Diego that needed to be mentioned. I know that there was a lot of toy news there.

Ryan (01:49:00 - 01:49:00): Yeah.

Ed (01:49:00 - 01:49:06): And as far as the wrap-up of on the pop culture stuff, you guys are going to cover that on the main show.

Ryan (01:49:06 - 01:49:09): Yep, then we’ll cover that next week with our Spider-Man review.

Ed (01:49:09 - 01:49:18): Yeah. Well, this has been a long episode, so let’s get these people out of here. Ryan, where can people find you if they ain’t finding you here?

So anyways, thank you for listening, and we will talk to you after— we’ll talk at you because you’re not talking to us.

Ryan (01:50:14 - 01:50:14): No.

Ed (01:50:14 - 01:50:16): If you’re talking to your radio, you’re probably crazy.

Ryan (01:50:17 - 01:50:18): So you need to talk to someone.

Ed (01:50:19 - 01:50:20): So we will talk at you next month.
